DB is 22 years old and is not obtuse enough to believe he is the finished article. He has made a few errors this season but for me a lot of people overlooked the clangers he dropped last season. The main thing is that he is potentially a huge talent and every keeper, right up to the best ones ever in history, will make mistakes. More so when they are young and then with time, improvement and experience, comes consistency.

At Southend they seem to do well with GK's but there are many clubs with great coaches and training facilities that would be an asset to DB's learning curve.

The lad had a burgeoning reputation to protect this year but has been severely let down by the defenders in general and particularly at set pieces. Does he throw his teddy out of the pram each match? No. Does he go running to CP and publicly moan about those around him or try to big himself up? No. He has got on with his job professionally, has clearly worked hard to be at the level he is and has earned any opportunity that comes his way.

I have two sons I am proud of no matter what and I know I always want the best for them. I see a lad like DB and know if he was my boy I would want him to do what makes him happy. He appears driven and to be happy that is likely to be the fulfilment of aspiration and the reward for all the sweat and tears he has invested into his own future.

If you actually read the latest posts, no-one is taking about him making mistakes, as we know that happens. It's his all round game that needs working on. Look how the best keepers command their box and you talk about the defenders being at fault for all our goals conceded at set prices, well I'm sorry to say but Bentley has to take some responsibility for that as well.

You also want us to praise him for acting professional - it's his job, the majority of the people in the world act professional, big deal!!!

Nope. You seem to have taken what I said wrong. I have not tried to blame the defenders for all the problems but this season, more than last, they have not helped DB to cement his reputation. I acknowledged DB's errors and in talking about '...with time, improvement and experience, comes consistency' I was acknowledging his flaws. He is though just 22. In ten years time he will still be learning and improving. For now, he has done well but has a way to go and I am sure he would be the first to say so.

As for acting professionally, yes he does, and this is football where your assertion about the majority of people acting professionally has no basis. His own manager has publicly singled players out. He has been in the spotlight for a couple of seasons and everything he does is scrutinised. How many times do you hear a player, not getting the move they want, making comments to the press? Loads.

Apologies for taking your comment the wrong way. However I'm not suggesting he has to be a world best to play at a higher level, I just think he isn't good enough yet as he hasn't stood out this year against other keepers. Yes he was one of the top keepers in League Two, but that has not been the case in League One

With regards the professionalism, I think you are wrong there. There are loads of players that don't get the move they want, but very few actually throw a paddy and even if they do (and they get slated for it!!), I'm still not praising the guy for doing the job (and quite a privileged one at that) that he's paid to do

The result of the tribunal for Danny Ings in in......Liverpool HAVE to pay Burnley up to £8m.
£6.5m guaranteed plus £1.5 through add-ons. Burnley will also receive 20% of any profit on a future sale. Even Bournemouth get £200,000. This bodes well for Dan and Jack if both go to tribunals. Nothing like the amounts but they won't go for nothing.

Can't see Danny Ings in Klopp's long-term thinking.

Another Andy Carrollesque bit of business from Liverpool, there.

So we'd probably look at at least 600k up front, 200 in add-ons and 20% sell on.

That sounds like a fair assessment of the likely tribunal figures. Apparently Bournemouth are showing a keener interest and to be honest I think it would be great move for him if it materialised.

Absolutely this - anyone remember the horror show that Jack Butland put on when he was playing for against us for Cheltenham on loan (think we won 4-0) - he was worse than awful and now look at him.

Every time I see him play!

Hardly the same is it, Carroll was £35 million and Ings was £6.5 million. Ings scored 3 goals in 6 games or something like that before he got injured so it's very harsh to write him off already.

It was a horror show definitely but Cheltenham were down to ten men too!

that didn't excuse the fact that his display was poor and he could/should have doen better for at least two of the goals.

Obviously that is now all in the past - but I can't see how anyone can say he played well that day

I don't know... Ings strikes me as a real 'Klopp' player. His work-rate is second to none and I think he will thrive in Klopp's pressing style.

Anybody seen the exchanges on twitter between Chris Phillips and Dan Bentley's dad last night? Difficult to know exactly what was said because Mr. Bentley's tweets are protected. But C Phillips's messages are "you won't get that next season!!" and "you won't get specialist treatment in Bournemouth or wherever you go!". Would love to know what Dan's dad messages to get these responses!

That's a new thing as they weren't that long ago.

Oh, fairly innocuous (but teasing) stuff. Thought it might have been more 'juicy'. Am I right in thinking his tweets are protected, or is it just me? How did you manage to get this conversation?

Bentley offered top deal to stay with Blues. Story now online http://www.echo-news.co.uk/sport/14443229.Bentley_offered_top_deal_to_stay_with_Blues/ … @Essex_Echo

@CJPhillips1982 @Essex_Echo Money isn't the point!! It's all about football and career progression.

must admit I don't remember seeing that tweet but unless C Phillips replied directly to it, I wouldn't anyway. On that particular issue ("football and career progression"), 100% agree. The right move and his career takes off to new level, the wrong move could see him take a step backwards.
