Been a supporter over 60 years with over 40 as a S/T holder.
Seen bad times , applying for re-election in div 4 to the good times in the PL.
This is without doubt the worst ever , i now feel that I would rather we do a Bury and fold because the club is now virtually dead and at least this would be the final goodbye.
Getting relegated would be a disaster , not because it’s non league it’s more that we will struggle in that league. The players we have aren’t good enough for that league so what hope have we of signing better players than we already have when we are an elf team now.
Also who wants to buy a non league club for the money AL is asking and you still don’t get a single asset for it.
I would genuinely hope that if we do get relegated the owners move to liquidate the club into oblivion , organise the funeral , mourn and move on.
I can’t bear the thought of this club struggling in the national league.
I can only pray that Shez performs the miracle and new owners move in and the young supporters of today have a brighter future.

It’s a hard pill to swallow and no doubt many Scunthorpe fans feel the same.

We all now know that there’s no quick fix getting out of this division but once the reality of situation sets in and everyone knuckles down there’s always light at the end of the tunnel.

The Oldham fan was obviously desperate and didn't know which way to turn.
The NL due to being non league is frightening to some fans when their club has been relegated or even close to it.

Because they all know how difficult it is to get out of. One auto promotion place and one up through the lottery of the play offs and lots of good teams. Plus you kind of disappear off the radar! But look at Luton now, years in the NL and now the top end of the Championship. There’s hope.

Leyton Orient came back after only two seasons---They like Southend, Scunthorpe and Oldham had major problems with their owner.

Salford who gained promotion through the play off's spent a lot of money doing it.
L. O. were well known NOT to have spent a fortune to return to The EFL.

Sutton too made their debut in The EFL WITHOUT spending a lot.

As you say Luton have done an amazing job now.

Luton literally cleared the decks and started again from scratch.

As painful as it may be we may well be better off trying to build a decent side together over the next couple of seasons that doesn’t rely heavily on loan players so much.

I’m sure there’s plenty of decent young players out there on their way up as well as a few seasoned players heading in the other direction that can do the job.

A good combination of both may do the trick. ????????

I think we now have the backroom staff and management in place ,A team structure and hopefully playing style of our own, A very decent scouting setup, All of which we didnt have during those bad years, The future is looking bright for a new stadium, We already have signed some decent young talent and im sure there will be more incomings during the off season .With patience im thinking 2 or 3 seasons and we will be back in the EFL and never again will we flirt with the VNL. But it has given many supporters a chance to visit new grounds, so its not been all despair, also given our club a huge wakeup call ,including RM, I think he has learnt Karma is real since he made that remark about a certain club should never be in the EFL, now he knows its not a god given right for any club to be in the EFL.

It will be interesting to see what the outcome of this is with Oldham virtually in The NL.....Opinions please...https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/61125002

OLDHAM Athletic will face Southend United in the National League next season after their 115-year stay in the Football League came to a chaotic end at Boundary Park this afternoon.

Ironically, Sam Hart joined Oldham to stay in the EFL but now finds himself possibly playing in the National League next season.

There are perhaps two Oldham players whose contracts are expiring that Southend may want to consider: Dylan Bahamboula - an impressive, 6'1" midfielder - and Hallum Hope, an attack-minded midfielder who was a transfer target in the past. However, they maybe too expensive for Southend and unwilling to play in the National League if they have other options.

what happened that the game had to be finished behind closed doors
The players were taken off by referee Bobby Madley as supporters staged a centre-circle sit-in against owner Abdallah Lemsagam, despite appeals from boss John Sheridan to return to the stands.

Protests remained in place for some time after, but once the pitch had been cleared, the teams returned to play out the remaining time behind closed doors.
