Cool, I'm a first time dad of just over a year now, so I'll gladly be the resident Doctor for any questions you have or tips you may need regarding the first year of your little bundle of joy's life!..after that it's over to the veterans of DadZone!..

Ask Doctor Smiffy!!....

Definitely agree with Hex's comments on the other thread about treasuring every second of the first year. My little girl will be 1 in a couple of weeks & neither of us can believe it's gone so quickly.

1st piece of advice to Dads-to-be, go out & buy The Contented Little Baby book & get them in a good routine as soon as you can. Makes it all so much more easier!

I wasn't that keen on the whole being a Dad idea, but I can honestly say I've loved every second of it so far!!!

Napster, get into the habit now of doing f%&k all which, come to think of it, shouldn't be too hard for you.

That's an excellent piece of advice - probably the single most important practical thing you can do is find a routine that suits you and stick to it rigidly. That's what we did and our daughter has been incredibly content - she's 16 months now and since going into her own room at 8 weeks, I could count the number of nights she hasn't slept straight through on both hands and I believe that's because her daily routine has barely changed since she was born.

Ditto - although I wouldn't wake up anyway.

Dadzone, cool!!!

As i've already mentioned, our little SZ'er will be due around 8th September. We have Sheffield Wednesday at home on the 9th, and i've already told the missus to hang on till Sunday 10th till she gives birth, dont wanna miss the game
laugh.gif

Saying that she is also a seaso and doesn't wanna miss the game either!

This will be our first Child. We're both very excited and a little nervous, but i'm sure we'll be ok.

Must say when we've been at matches, the baby has been very active. Kicking and punching away inside the missus!

The noise at Swansea away was deafening, baby was so active that day.

Hopefully a future Shrimper!

We're going to wait and see what sex it is, but more or less everyone in the know reckons it will be a Boy. Time will tell.

I must say going to each scan was an excellent experience, to see our little baby on the screen was magical.

What a cool place to talk about this subject.

Up The DadZone!

The hardest part of being a dad for me so far is watching the ungrateful little bastards wanting to support another team... Wet Spam are actually our local team, so he is using that as an excuse and saying that Southend are his second team.

My 8 year old plays for our local side, and loves the game, and therefore is more willing to support a team that plays real football, and isn't full of overpaid nonces. It does mean I've got to buy him our new kit though, or he'll kill me.

And I won't even mention my youngest, as he obviously really doesn't understand

The only advice I can give you young expectant fathers is make the most of your offspring when they are very young  cos they will soon grow up and be complete bleeders like their dads.

Congrats to Naps & TTK on their impending fatherhood, by the way.

Many congrats on your news Tone (wehen it's born we may have to club together to get a baby sized Silver LDV Vans shirt) but I have to take issue with the use of the word "hopefully" here. I will say now that my kid will not have a choice in the matter....if any spawn of mine turns out to be a West Ham fan then I swear they will not only be buying their own football kit I'll go one step further and they can pay for their own food, clothes, lodgings etc
suspect.gif
They will have a choice but it'll be a bit like a Chinese democratic election - they get a choice of one.......

Since this is DadZone, though, presumably you're only allowed to play Dad-rock in here, which means that hexagon_sun's play list is out...

- don't be fooled by what's in my iTunes library, my vinyl collection is full of Zeppelin, Cream, The Band, Floyd, Uriah Heep, CSN&Y, Caravan etc. I am most definitely a dad who likes to rawk \m/

But what do you do when the Mother and her family are all Spurs supporters (ok, not shagging her in the first place possibly an option, but I was a ginged 22 year old, and she was an 18 year old dancer, so I think it was a valid move at the time!!!)

My other half has now been seen wearing a Southend Footie Chick T-Shirt, and does sometimes sleep in a Southend shirt (something VERY sexy about that) so there's hope for all of them.

The club shop dont even do this years kit in baby size, 0-6 and 6-12 months.

I find that very dissapointing. Yet i've got our baby a red England kit (6-12 months size). It looks quality!
