What’s happened to Leah Williamson and Beth Mead?

I thought Williamson looked absolute class at the back and Mead was obviously named player of the Euros.

Beth Mead is not included in England's Women's World Cup squad, having not fully recovered from an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

The Arsenal forward, 27, has not played since November and was a major doubt.

Leah Williamson suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in Barclays Women’s Super League match against Manchester United.

Both out with the same injury.

Williamson especially was class during the Euros. I think I heard somewhere that she didn't make one tackle in the entire tournament because she was never caught out of position to need to. Her reading of the game is exceptional.

Great shame they are not playing. Although I would dispute that they are not fit, particularly Leah.

I was lucky enough to be at the Euro final probably the best atmosphere I have ever experienced at a football match 😁 if the Ladies can play as well as they did in that tournament (despite the injuries and retirements) then adding the World Cup 🏆 would be an amazing achievement 🤞

Just got my tickets through to the opening game v Haiti here in Brisbane. Going to get tickets for the second round here which England will be in if they win the group too.

Any other Aussie based Shrimpers going to games?

Will be at the England v Haiti game also. Along with a couple of games here in VIC.
