Our front two if Fred goes

CC51DAS

President
So , lets just say that Man City firm up their bid for Fred this week on the condition that he sits out the rest of the season or goes to train with them . Who do we play up front for the last six games ?

Harrold and Bradbury ?

Foran and Bradbury ?

Foran and Harrold ?

Recall Billy ? ( possible ?)

Jamie Lawson

Play Prior up front ?

Its a pretty frightening thought isn't it ?

They wont and it wont happen. Ron would not agree to that given our need for points. It would be as good as inviting relegation.

Next season if Fred goes IMO I think Foran and Hooper would be our best, Hooper has shown that he could be a good poacher, I think those two would go well together.

Given how utterly sh1te he was on Saturday, even considering how poor the service was, I really wouldnt be that bothered to be honest.

I knwo he has bundles of talent, but in my mind, and clearly his, he wants to be playing elsewhere and doesnt want to be here anymore. If that is wrong, then he is doing a pretty good impression of it at least!

I hope I am wrong , but if someone came along and waved the reported 5 million squid under Ron's nose on the condition that Fred wasn't risked any more then I think he'd go with it . He would justify it by saying better for the club in the long run to get £5 m now than risk getting £1.5 in the summer .A strenghtened team in the top 3 of League 1 would mean close to capacity gates next season .

Nicole Update: She didn't arrive. However, the toliet cleaner just flashed her knockers at me as she walked past.

It doesn't matter who the front two are if we don't give them any service. Freddy is our only striker who can create something out of nothing, which is pretty much all our strikers have had to work with. If Freddy gets injured we get relegated, as much because of the inadequacy of our midfield as because of the inadequacy of the forwards.

Next season, if we are relegated and Freddy goes, and we were to look to play quick passing football, aiming more attacks down the wings, I think Harrold and Lawson could be a decent pairing. To do that though, we'd need to completely restructure our midfield and get some wingers in who cross.

Stuart Pearce may be ridiculed as City manager by his own fans, but there is no way that he would pay £5m for Freddy Eastwood, particularly after wasting £6m on Georgios Samaras. Emile Mpenza has turned out to be a fine signing for City, so I'd imagine that he is nailed on to be there next season on a longer term deal.

Dream on with all this Freddy for £xm nonsense. The fact remains that he has proven to be an average centre forward at best in this division this season - great individual ability, yet little team playing nouse.

We will be lucky to get a bid in excess of £1m for him now.

I disagree that Freddy is in anyway average.

Freddy has 16 goals in a struggling team. He's also hit the woodwork five(?) times this season. Not only is he our best goalscorer, he's also our best goal-creator. He's struggled with virtually no support to carve chances out of nothing.

Statwise he matches up to pretty much anyone in the division. The top scorers have only 5 more than him, despite playing for teams much higher up the table. No-one else in the bottom 8 has scored nearly as many.

Of the 6 strikers to have scored more than him, 3 of those are only one or two goals better off than Freddy and Chopra is the only other striker to feature on both the top scorers and top assist list.

Nugent got called up for England for scoring as many as Freddy has managed.

However, it is the fact that Nugent, unlike Fred, works hard all over the pitch for the team and provides much more in overall play than Fred in my opinion. I think Fred has been off the boil for most of the season, but having said that he would always feature on my team sheet!
