Echo News Southend United boss Kevin Maher on Harry Taylor's injury

SOUTHEND United defender Harry Taylor has suffered a tear in hamstring.

Taylor picked up the injury during the 1-0 defeat to Gateshead at the start of the month.

And scans have now confirmed the seriousness of the setback.

Blues boss Kevin Maher said: “Harry got the results of his scan and there’s a tear in his hamstring.

“It’s weeks rather than days with him and it’s an eight centimetre tear.

“We had a feeling it might and now it’s confirmed.

“Harry’s pretty robust and good recovery wise so fingers crossed he’ll be speedy recovery wise.”

As much as i have warmed to Harry, the Crowther fellow looks far more complete. Far bigger worries on the pitch like the two non creatives in midfield. We keep saying it but Dackers, Cards, Salah, Haaland, are not going to score if we play crab football....onto tomorrow!

Taylor has been probably my player of the season and is really good on the right side of a back three.

Crowther, from what little I've seen of him, looks a very good player at this level - well done to John Still & Co again. Has covered well for Taylor, but I suspect could also play well in a back 4 too - whereas Taylor might struggle.
