In all honesty if they want to fend off interest from L1 or 2 they're going to have to offer him a comparable deal to those levels. Plus a decent bonus for getting us promoted back to the EFL. Loyalty only goes so far, he'll have bills to pay and will know it would ony take a bad 10/15 game run to get the chop, particularly after we're out of the embargo & have got a bigger squad.

I imagine the new owners are going to be extremely budget vigilant and will be trying to squeeze every bit of value out of every penny. Started a tad low on salary offer me thinks.

I think they started a little too low and I know Kevin wasn’t too impressed, but pleased to hear above that seems to have all been sorted. Great news indeed.

With our heads and our hearts in this, I say you’d have to hope it was. if we’d made an offer that Kev would’ve grabbed for his pen for straight away, we’re not doing it right.

I love the boys and want them all tied down but, if there’s one thing we’ve learned over the last ten years or so, it’s about getting exactly the right balance in our contracts. And if we’re not offering L1 cash (as we probably can’t), then what other incentives can we bring into it. Personally, I’ve always loved contracts linked to crowd size and profits as a meaningful boost.

Blatantly though, we do need to give the boys a substantial and meaningful lift!
