We are now in a tremendous position in the league, we have the best run in, and most of our rivals have to play each other.

If we blow it now we only have ourselves to blame.

Barring an almighty collapse, even being pesimistic, promotion beckons!

Well after last season lets not count our chickens buts its looking very good right now.
If you were a fan of Barnsley or Swansea you would be just hoping for second place and that the title was gone.

if you are a fan of Col******r then you are just a sad b@stard!

I think the players will be significantly more motivated than last season and willl not want to fail with automatic - it is basically there for us to take.

I think if we beat Scunthorpe on Friday then we may well have one foot there........

As csboy says, after last term I'm staying quiet and not counting anything until I look at the table on ceefax to see our name highlighted in green with the letter (P) next to it...

I think what it meant to the players was summed up by Guttridge after the game when he came over to us and went a bit mental for a moment

Latest post-game odds from bet365 to win League 1:

Southend 7/4
Brentford 7/2
Col******r 5/1
Udders 5/1
Barnsley 13/2
Swans 7/1

I hope they're right. Quietly confident on my 50/1 bet pre-season after today :-)

I was going put £10 on us at 50-1 in August, I wish I had now. Last season I put £10 on us at 20-1 and it came in. Not to bothered as promotion far out ways the financial benefit!

This was an amazing result, but there's still a way to go with lots of points to be won, shared or lost. Each game is crucial until the maths make us safe.

To be honest, I am most worried about Brentford and Barnsley. That'll be some game oop north.

Still, all caution will be cast aside tonight as I go out and get completely plastered in honour of THE MIGHTY SHRIMPERS.

My £25 e/w on Eastwood to be League 1 top goalscorer looks better each week too!!

Its only been this season and last that I didnt bet on Southend to be promoted

Funny that...

Still a hole 10 games left, but we are starting to look comfortable, If we win the league, I might loose the ability to talk as I will be speechless!

If we get promoted will you gain the ability to spell ?

We're not up until only one other team can catch us. Surely our record at the end of last season is a warning to all? We could do without any more Murray Walker comments thanks.

No! Are you trying to put the mockers on

. There's a long way to go and it wouldn't be the first time we'd have snatched failre from the jaws of success.

Injuries or suspsensions to key players and we'll be struggling.

Also, if we don't beat Scunthorpe next Friday we will have thrown away todays good work and be back to square one.

However, 10 more performances like today and we'll have the cigars out come end of April.

Yes, it's looking good at the moment, but one doesn't want to get his hopes up too soon. We know that we have a tendancy to make things hard for ourselves. Lets just get behind the lads and hope for the best.

On a different note, what the hell is up with our goal difference!?

I nearly had a heart attack last season when it reched (positive) double figures. Now it's into the twenties. Anybody backing us to reach +30!?

Just had a peak at the next 7 days' fixtures for us and our rivals. While we have midtable Scunny at home....

Brentford - Trip to Yeovil midweek and hosting fellow promotion candidates Barnsley on Saturday. Surely this will take a lot out of them physically and seems unlikely they will come away with six points.

Col******r - Tricky trip to playoff hopefuls Oldham next Saturday

Huddersfield - Away to relegation strugglers Hartlepool on a Friday night. Could prove trickier than it seems.

Swansea - Looks to be an easy game against Walsall on Sunday but by then, they could be eleven points behind us and the pressure would really be on. Not forgetting Walsall at ours either!

Looks like we could possibly make a giant stride next weekend if we can get the three points. It's Brentford's games in hand that worry me still though.

I agree. But I'd rather have then come with us than Col Ewe.

But Yeovil won away today, so they must fancy themselves to win this match.
