The LDV 1/4 final

What a result, against a quality side. They can argue Sabin did not start, but take a look at our bench!!!

Anyway basically because i could not get to the game, and the BBC did not broadcast it, i could not listen to it with my own ears (yes i had to borrow someone elses

). Can someone who was there give me some opinionated ratings, and bits on players

Cheers

I've already spent far too much time writing a match report for it. This can be found on SOL. Can't even be bothered to link to it!!

They didn't play Sabin because Alsop replaced him on Saturday and impressed. That was their first team out on Tuesday. We just outclassed them!!

Dudfield and Bramble started up front and linked up well throughout the first half, and proved a handful for Northampton's defence. It wouldn't have been unrealistic to say we could have been 4-0 up at half time. In the second half they both still worked hard, but were not quite as effective. Possibly due to a lack of match fitness, along with the fact Northampton began to play better.

Our defence that night i thought was extremely solid. Barrett and Edwards worked well together, and stuck in good blocks and challenges when it was needed. Hunt was quite solid but nothing spectacular. But no doubt will improve as he plays more in his favoured position. Nikki I thought after a shakey start played really well. He defended well and gave the team another attacking dimension with his whipping crosses and link up play with Gower.

I don't think Tilson will change much for the Orient game, although according to the official site, Laurie Dudfield picked up a knock in the second half (one of the reasons he was substituted) against the Cobblers. I don't think it was too bad, but if he's not available for next Tuesday, we have a wealth of ability up-front to draw upon.

I can't wait!

Sorry for being dumb... no changes from the Northampton game are you referring to? ie Nikki and Hunt full backs. Bramble possibly Dudfield upfront??

Yes... I would certainly keep the same defence & midfield line ups for the Orient game! Tilson's no fool & won't change a winning formula, although he could tinker with the strike partnership if required for tactical reasons.

Some will say that this is not our strongest team though and this may be true, but I look at it that opponents will have us watched and get used to how we play. Thus by mixing it up a bit from time to time, it makes our team less predictable!

Griemink

Hunt, Edwards, Barratt, Nicolau

Pettefer, Maher, Bentley, Gower

Bramble, Dudfield

Eastwood, Gray, Prior, Wilson, Morgan/Flahavan*

* not too sure if Flahavan's out one more week or two?
