What's the biggest win you have seen by Blues? And the biggest defeat? Tell us all your story.

Biggest win here 10-1 v. Brentwood in the FA cup. How can I forget the chant of "We Want Eleven!"? That came just after 9-0 v. Kings Lynn, happy days!

Biggest defeat - 5-1 away at Doncaster in the play-offs. So dismal was I, I really don't recall much about it - maybe I choose not to.

Biggest win was Aldershot 10-1 & the biggest defeat was 8-0 vs Palarce. Ian Wright chinned one of our players & got away with it. I think he scored a few that night!

Biggest Defeat 0-4 at Brentford : i think that was my first ever Shrimpers game. 88/89 relegation season : Sammy had a blinder else it would have been 14-0.
Biggest win....Not including friendlies I don't think I've seen any more than a 4-0 win. (seen a few of those). I watched us beat Aldershot 10-1 on teletext...does that count?

Top of my head its ..

Southend 10 Aldersh!t 1
Southend United 7 Torquay United 0
Southend United 6 Brentford 0

Crystal Palace 8 Southend United 0
Gillingham 8 Southend United 1
Sunderland 7 Southend United 0

Sunderland comes complete with a photo of some of our massive support which would have numbered around 35 IIRC

Biggest win

6-1 at home to Oxford.

Tommy Mooney grabbed a hattrick and Ricky Otto a brace. Jonathan Hunt who I think may have been playing centre-midfield for the first time for us, ran the show. By the end of the game Ricky Otto was juggling the ball and we were doing the oles, but without letting the ball touch the ground. When Phil Gridelet joined in, that was really taking the ****.

We'd have lined up something like: Royce, Poole, Powell, Edwards, Howell (or maybe Bressington), Gridelet, Hunt, Ansah, Otto, Mooney and Angell.

Biggest defeat

5-0 at Carlisle.

I seem to recall we went 5 at the back for this one, with Mark Stimson as sweeper. It didn't go too well. We were so bad defensively that I think we might have actually missed Keith Dublin. It really was that bad. One of Neville Southall's nine winless games between the sticks. Cheers Alvin.

I reckon the team would have been something like: Southall, Beard, N. Jones, Perkins, Stimson, Lewis, Maher, Livett, Hails, Williams, N'Diaye.

Biggest win was Aldershot 10-1 & the biggest defeat was 8-0 vs Palarce. Ian Wright chinned one of our players & got away with it. I think he scored a few that night!

I think Stan scored that night and hattricks for Bright and Wright.

Biggest Defeat 0-4 at Brentford : i think that was my first ever Shrimpers game. 88/89 relegation season : Sammy had a blinder else it would have been 14-0.

We've won bigger than that a few times since 88/89. Have you not seen any of the following:

6-1 against Oxford in 1993/94
5-0 against QPR in 06/07
5-0 against Aldershot in 89/90

Top of my head its ..

Southend 10 Aldersh!t 1
Southend United 7 Torquay United 0

Crystal Palace 8 Southend United 0

These were mine, and if I remember that Torquay game was 0-0 at half time. I remember the Palace game being stuck right at the top of the terrace about 3 miles from the action. 2nd leg we lost 2-1 at the hall.

Need to think about league games though as these are all cup

Andy Edwards scored a belter in the Torquay game IIRC. I also remember the Palace scoreboard giving up the ghost at 8.

Same as Big Shrimp.

Biggest win 10-1 vs Aldershot. Remember a shot going wide then hitting an upright in the North Bank, it rebounded and hit me on the back of the head knocking me down a couple of steps.

Here it is -

Biggest loss 8-0 vs Palace, although we left this one with 10 mins to go when it was 5-0. Was even more disappointed when we got to car and put the radio on to catch the final score.

Aldershot 10-1 with Dale Banton for them scoring possibly the best goal of the night to make it 10-1 and give them a sniff!

Sunderland 7-0 defeat but we did leave at 5-0 and heard a cheer that we thought was full time, then another, then another!

Prior to that I remember losing 5-2 at home to Notts County in about 1970 that seemed horrendous at the time, and we were winning 2-1

Biggest win - 10-1 Brentwood FA Cup, 7-0 Workington League (67/68)
Defeat 0-8 CP League Cup, Oxford 0-5 96/97 League

10-1 V Brentwood and Aldershot - not sure about the biggest defeat - will have to check the memory banks (might be a long time :winking:)

Saw us beat both Brentwood & Aldershot 10-1

Saw our 9-1 defeat at Brighton. The 8-1 away defeat to Gillingham saw them score our goal.

In all my 42+ years of supporting the Blues I have yet to see us score more than 5... every time it's happened I've missed it!

I remember being 5-1 up at half time against Port Vale when we won the 4th division Championship in 1980/1... and that was the score at full time... we also beat Aldershot 5-0 and I think had half an hour plus to get number 6... Crowny had a goal disallowed.

I've seen us lose 5-0 at Gillingham when Gavin Peacock took us apart in the game (I think) before the 8-0 Palace defeat. I think there have been some other 5-0's as well but I've never seen us concede more than 5.

Biggest win at home, 6-1 v Oxford. Biggest win away, the recent 4-0 drubbing of Rotherham.

Biggest defeat, the 5-1 loss at the Keepmoat.

biggest win - 10-1 v Aldershot. Although loads of people claim to have been there. Steve Wignall was on their side.

biggest defeat - 5-0 a v Darlo - on my birthday weekend. Some scummy kids threw stones at us as well. Grim.

Biggest win for me was 5-0 at home to QPR
Biggest defeat for me was 6-1 at Palace
I think the Bressington Testimonial though we scored something like 11...

Whatever happened to the legend that was Bress?

Anyone else at Swansea when we won with 8 men? Also we lost there as well with 8 men on another occasion
