Unofficial Prediction League
Welcome
to the 4th ShrimperZone Prediction League
competition. It's that time of year
again as we all look forward to the
forthcoming campaign and you have a
chance to use your footballing knowledge
and predict just how well (or poor) Southend
United will perform match-by-match.
We
had a few problems at the end of last
season with the automated form. Now
that Scriv has jumped ship for the official
site, it's going to be harder to maintain
the scripts so we've decided to ditch
the form and go for the more direct
approach : e-mail registration and prediction.

REGISTERING
To
register is simple. Just
send an e-mail address to
prediction-league@shrimperzone.com.
You must provide
a valid e-mail address to
take part; reminders, updates
and other important information
concerning the SZ Prediction
League will be sent out
using this method. An invalid
e-mail will result in an
invalid competitor. You
may not receive a confirmation
so send in your predictions
straight away (see below)
and check the ShrimperZone
Chit-Chat Forum regularly
for updates.

THE
2004/05 PREDICTION LEAGUE
FORMAT
Just
one league this season so
it's going to be a bit of
a free-for-all again.
How
To Predict It's
very simple. Not only will you
predict the final score
of every first-team game
that Southend United plays
this season (including FA
Cup, Coca-Cola Cup and LDV
Vans Trophy), but you also
predict which Shrimper will
score (if any) and the time
of the first goal of the
match, irrespective of which
team scores it. You can
predict game-by-game for
a more tactical approach
or you can predict as many
games as you like, even
the entire season! Just
make sure that your e-mail
are clear and concise and
we'll take care of the everything
else.
Scoring 100pts
will be awarded for getting
the scoreline spot on. (A
"win") 50pts
will be awarded for getting
the right result, i.e. a
Southend win. (A "draw") 5pts
will be awarded for any
other prediction. (A "loss") A
bonus 25pts will be awarded
for every Southend scorer
correctly predicted. A
bonus 40pts will be awarded
for correctly predicting
the time of the first goal
of the match.
Updates Although
occasional updates regarding
any integral changes to
the SZ Prediction League
will be sent out via e-mail,
you should check the
ShrimperZone Chit-Chat Forum
as well for league announcements.
THE
2004/05 PREDICTION LEAGUE
RULES
1.
The decision of the
ShrimperZone Prediction
League organisation committee
is final and there will
be no debate unless
there is a genuine case
for dispute. 2. All
predictions should be properly
annotated with the "Competitor
Name" and in the
following format : Score
Prediction, Southend Scorers
only,
Time of First Goal. 3.
To ensure consistency,
the timings for the first
goal will be derived from
The
Internet Soccer Database. 4.
All predictions must
arrive by kick-off (3pm
Saturdays / Bank Holidays
and 7:45pm evening games).
Any prediction received
after this time will
be discarded. 5. You
can predict as many games
as you like. Predict game-by-game
for a more tactical approach,
or predict for the whole
month if you wish. It doesn't
matter so long as the predictions
are clear and reach us in
time. 6. No cheating
... we'll know ...
