As things stand at the minute, Darlington Football Club is looking increasingly likely to fold. Reynolds will not accept the Sterling deal and has said he would rather see the club close than accept what Sterling are offering. The administrators are running out of reasons to justify keeping the club running. However, Reynolds is not the only man stopping the deal going ahead.

The Football League have effectively backed Mr Reynolds by saying that any deal for the club must be backed by all creditors or else we will be kicked out of the league. As i understand, the administrators could still proceed with the Sterling deal without Reynolds' approval but it would mean we'd be starting again several leagues lower - something which Sterling would not want and therefore they would likely pull out of the deal.

Here's where i need your help. A petition has been set up online to send to the football club asking them to relax their rules considering our situation. The more signatures we get, the more likely they are to take notice of it. To sign the petition, please go here

If you have time i would also recommend emailing the football league with your comments and views. They can be contacted at fl@football-league.co.uk
They will probably not read our emails but its worth a shot. I will post my contribution later when i've written it.

Thanks for your time. DFC.

This is gonna sound harsh and i am fully behind Darlo but why should the league relax rules for them and not the other clubs that have neared liquidation ?

Its a bit unfair surely

Totally agree, sooner or later it will happen and it's time that the rules were actually adhered to. Would've preferred Leeds to have gone though!

Ta WB,

Just seems totally unfair that teams like Oldham, Notts County, Swindon etc spend months in Admin losing there best players and fighting and then the league change the rules just for Darlo.

Unfortunatly i believe its come to the point of the buck stops here, and perhaps if a league club go under it may wake up a few chairman and management staff alike to buck up there act and it may also get the FA to introduce new guidelines.

You lot are right that Darlington Football Club have cocked it all up and should really be punished as other teams who keep good financial books it is unfair to them, but I can't feeling sorry for the fans they had no say in the matter!

Done my bit Kev, also posted it on Shrimpers.net

The way i feel about it is that if it was any other club then maybe they should fight for themselves, but George Reynolds has really cocked them up.

I think that Darlo should really feel aggrieved at Northampton, Hull, Torquay and, above all, Leicester who have all had much more success in no small part due to their finances being so bad. Leicester getting promoted to the Prem after spending the whole season in administration was terrible to say the least. How would you feel if you were a Sheff Utd fan?

That said, I don't actually know anyone who doesn't hate either Sheff Utd or Neil Warnock.

My mate supports Sheffield and was pretty annoyed when Leicester went up!

Still Sheff Utd are near going out of the playoffs.
What a shame that would be...
