View Full Version : Battrick
Great! Listed two players with deadlines just after 10:30 so I'd be able to play them. As the first update didn't occur till 11 they'd gone and have been replaced by a couple of numpties. Typically the batter went in the bowling slot and vice versa.....
67-4 on a batters paradise!!

Oppo won toss and are batting are have 110-1 off 19 overs. Spinners are on and are slowing things down. I much prefer to bat first as it seems better to set target, rather than chase as i dont fancy my side chasing 300 odd.

85-5, this could be a mauling as we have a worthless bowler leading the attack http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

Oppo are 140-2 halfway through. My pitch is now good for the spinners but Akram has 5-0-20-0 which is the worse i've ever seen! http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif Got him on attacking so that could be why.

Won the toss and elected to bat, going well at 133-2 after 26 overs. Should be able to set them a target of 300 ish.
My number 8 has scored 24 in 19 balls and my main batsman who's still in on 69 hasn't scored a run in 11 balls, go figure!!
156-6, at least we might not get too humiliating a score!

Managed 278-8 using the full 50 over, which is surprising as last week we managed about 80 odd.

Made 270ish. Not convinced thats going to be enough, despite the low, slow pitch.
As expected being whacked all over the park as they chase my meagre 185 all out. *At least we've taken 3 wickets this time.
On the upside my strong bowler sold for £542k so we have some cash to spend.

Lost, they polished off our total in a comfy 33 overs.
Just spent some money increasing our stadium to 15,000 (with, more importantly, the correct stadium formula). We now have £190,000 to spend on a couple of youths, though we will get at least another £90k tomorrow from two further sales.
Downside is we now have just one respectable batsman, two competent batsmen and one respectable bowler. The rest are all rubbish but trainable. Could be a slow couple of seasons!!!

Got 281-5, oppo are 179-2 after 33 overs, looking like a defeat. I got put into bat, and I dont seem to be most successful batting first http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

Probably about £50k. The Clippers team that is bidding against you has almost immediately outbid everyone that has bid for him so far so watch out. Amazingly someone bid £50,000 straight off for John Howey (listed for £0) who is a 25yo mediocre batter with woeful concentration!
Have just listed my 24yo respectable WK with woeful/woeful batting as have bought a 21yo respectable with feeble/feeble for £10k. If he sells then I'll only have one original player left who is crap but is a strong captain with good experience.

Bloody hell, what a $%&* over!
39.6 1 Cartwright to Fontaine
Good cricket, knocks it down to third man and rotates the strike.
39.5 . Cartwright to Fontaine
Good length fullish ball angling away just outside off stump, shuffles well forward before shouldering arms to Thay again
39.4 6 Cartwright to Fontaine
mistimes his shot and the ball flies into the member's area for 6.
39.3 4 Cartwright to Fontaine
pitched up, drives it on the front foot, down the ground for four
39.2 1 Cartwright to Grabb
gently worked around the legs to bwd sq
39.2 nb6 Cartwright to Grabb
no ball, Up, and over the longest boundary. That will please Grabb.
39.1 . Cartwright to Grabb
Good shortish ball angling in to the body, cramps him up as he plays it into the pad from an inside edge, drops away inside on the off side
i paid 200k for that bloke http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif
Anyway, my opening bowler came back on and took a wicket so I have a slim chance now, 51 off 10 needed with 5 wickets.

Lost narrowly, took 8 wickets but in the end some really expensive overs killed me. I changed my pitch to suit the spinners, one did fine 2-45 but the other was 0-65, useless.

Im also thinking of getting more seats in my ground but might need to sell someone so i can add a few thousand covered seats to my ground as my attendance was nearly 5000 today. The next good YP i will keep and will sell one of my better older players and make my ground B-esque big.

Don't forget the magic formula:
Standing: 45%
Uncovered: 40%
Covered: 10%
Members: 5%
Just signed two 17yo's. One a respectable batter, the other mediocre with mediocre concentration. Now to get myself some bowlers.
We have quite a training roster now!

I'm already in debt as it is by about £20,000 since £70,000 of my money went missing during my first financial update and I don't know if I can make a profit on the weeks i'm playing at home.
And after I had lost 5 games in a row (friendies included) I managed an attendance of 2541
I only expected £30-40k so I'm happy anyway. Competent's will be worth $%&* all once everyones training regimes are in place anyway!
Now getting £125k for a mediocre and a competent combined, have some of that!

You must be very happy.
Indeed, every llittle helps. It does amaze me that I picked up a respectable 18yo bowler £63,000 and sold a 23yo competent for £125,000!
