Dr Martens League Premier Division leaders Crawley Town have reported that Daniel Marney has put pen-to-paper on a two-year contract.

Twenty-two-year-old Marney (pictured) has been at Brighton & Hove Albion for five years, and in his two loan spells at the Broadfield Stadium this season has endeared himself to the Red Devils faithful.

Manager Francis Vines said: “ It has taken us six months to secure Danny’s services on a permanent basis and I am very happy with the signing. We now have four of the best forwards in the division, which gives me a nice headache to deal with.”

Marney is pleased to be getting an opportunity to play regular football. “I am obviously very sad to be leaving Brighton after five very happy years, and I leave behind many good friends and happy memories. I’m delighted to be joining, and be part of a successful club with a bright future.”

Crawley Town who, if my memory serves me correctly, recently beat Steve Claridge's Weymouth and who therefore top their division (Isthmian Southern League)... which means they'll be in the Conference next year.

Sounds like Marney's level...

Incredible to think that a few months before he joined us, he was named Div1 Young Player Of The Month. Bizarre.
