View Full Version : End of season Table

The Artful Shrimper

Having spent the best part of the morning checking all fixtures remaining, consulting various bookies odds and form guides etc etc, the end of seaso table should look like this;-

1 ** Doncaster 95
2 ** Hull City 89
3 ** Huddersfield 87
4 ** Torquay United 78
5 ** Mansfield Town 78
6 ** Oxford Utd 78
7 ** Yeovil 72
8 ** Lincoln City 69
9 ** Swansea City 65
10 ** Northampton 63
11 ** Leyton Orient 57
12 ** Boston United 56
13 ** Bury 54
14 ** Cambridge Utd 54
15 ** Sc**thorpe Utd 53
16 ** Southend Utd 52
17 ** Bristol Rovers 52
18 ** Cheltenham 50
19 ** Kidderminster 50
20 ** Rochdale 49
21 ** Darlington 48
22 ** York City 45
23 ** Macclesfield 44
24 ** Carlisle United 44

From our point of view this would be a bad run of form (considering) producing one win (Darlington) and one draw
( Rochdale) in our remaining 7 games. the more you study the other matches, the more confident I became of our survival and of course we could pull a few surprises, just as others could, so I suppose hopefully things will balance out like this. Bad form for Macclesfield and York though.....

Macc Town have won 3 and drawn 1 of the last 5. A table like this is based on total season form, rather than current form... and it's the latter that counts now.

York & Carlisle to go down, I reckon. We'll finish above Orient.

Despite staying up, would anyone still feel slightly deflated if we only finish 16th? I know I would. I think we are capable of finishing at least a few places above that.

Still, would of taken that position at christmas mind.

I won't be too deflated. I'd love us to make the season safe and finish as high as possible, but I'm already thinking about the future and next year's promotion push.

Another false dawn?

let's hope not.

We need to make a strong finish to our season, finishing with 57 or 58 pts will do to give us hope for next season. If Tilson & Brush get a new contract, both need to prove to Ron Martin that they can gee the team to finish stronger not a flat end to the season - I hope both get their contract & stay for another 2 year.

Sorry, I don't think Macclefield will finish with 45 pts anyway as they beat Borient 1-0.

Your written English is deplorable... but I suppose it's hard to concentrate while your getting off on a double bl*w j*b from your sister and your mum.

Oh... your luck's in, your dad just walked in the room as well.

Best leave you inbreds to it.

Anyway, back to the topic of the league table. Carlisle won AGAIN and wouldn't be in the relegation zone if it wasn't for us surprising them at home! Don't write them off. York and Rochdale to go down from where I'm looking. Will probabbly teach Rochdale a lesson for not getting promoted in the 90 odd years they've been in the third!

Don't want to argue with you, but didn't they get promoted in the 68/69 season, only to go back down in 73/74?

In all honesty, I've never checked that fact but was fairly sure it was used as the foundation for an article in the Times.

Just had a look and you're quite right, they did spend a whopping five seasons in the old third division. Also, Reg Jenkins has scored more goals than any other player for Rochdale with 119 in 8 years

(If you hadn't guessed, this is all from the official site).

I retract my statement then. Clearly with this success they deserve some lows to balance it out!
