Andre Nel to make his delayed debut in the championship game starting tomorrow.

It would be great if we can get another win and stay in the promotion spots.

Nothing but a win will do really. An absolute must. Hope the weather holds up for us (and that Yorks vs Durham is completely rained off so neither of them pick up any bonus points! http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif )!

With 3 games left we need two wins and we should be promoted.

Think Worcs & Lancs have a game in hand.

It's not often I celebrate the fall of an Essex wicket, but thank f*ck for Somerset's Charl Langeveldt, who has just snared the wicket of Grant Flower - scorer of 5 runs off 36 balls which equates to the marvellous strike rate of 13.89.

33/2 - Jefferson and Bopara in now.

I trust Irani's innings is getting the MtS seal of approval: he has faced 4 balls and has already hit a maximum. Essex though in troulbe at 164-5.

1000 runs this season for captain Ronnie Irani. Scored at a very healthy average of over 60.

Sadly Ronnie was then run out for 86 and denied a century again. His last three innings have been out for 99, not out 88 and now run out 86! How unlucky!

Now that's what I call a start:-)

Andre Nel takes a wicket with his first ball for Essex! C'mon!

Nel is definitely rubbish. His second, third, fifth and sixth balls of his first over failed to take any wickets. Not nearly good enough.

With Nel at number 9 and Danish at 13, we've got two of the world's very best bowlers playing for us now http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Spot of contrivance between the skippers. Somerset declared on 112-2, we've forfeited our second innings and they now require 289 to win. 53-2 as I type.

Fair play to the captains for trying to force a positive result.

A target which, alas, they reached with some ease....
