View Full Version : Sunday's Tournament - Wednesday Update

Now that there has been enough time for the good or bad news to settle in I thought I'd do an update on developments.

We must not forget those in the squad that have not been selected and I'm overwhelmed with the responses so far on the threads and PMs from those receiving good or bad news. Come the start of the league season I'm going to be making the same sorts of decisions week in week out but saying "Sorry X, I'm not picking you this week" in the freezing mid-winter at Garons etc is hardly the same.

I know Napster and McNasty have kindly agreed to be honorary joint managers for the day but I'm determined to find a role for everybody in the squad that wants one on Sunday. e.g. official kit bag carrier, official team drink supplier - you get the idea. We are all in this together.

So far I have received PM's, calls or e-mails from 11 of the 14 selected. The three who haven't contacted me know who they are and I'd be grateful if they could. *

We're still working on one or two ideas for the kit. Possibly the Elonex shirts (but they don't go with the shorts and some are long, some are short sleeved), possibly SUFC 2003/4 home shirts but we may need to wear numbered shirts, possibly something else. More progress news tomorrow on this.

Today's newest bit of fantastic news is that Barry has arranged with Kev Feasey (and cleared it with SUFC) for all of our games to be professionally videoed. We'll try to include all of the squad and, if friends and family in the background if we can get them located in the same area or the stand (which may not be possible). We should be able to sort out videos/DVDs, naturally for a charge and it goes without saying that we will need to reward KF in some way or other.

Unlike last night I'm hoping to get some sleep tonight and unlike yesterday I'm intending to do some work tomorrow. I was very disciplined working from home today but only because the laptop I was using has no web connexion.

I think the best way of re-paying KF (and the Trust) would be all turning up next Wednesday. I know i, and a few others, will be there so it would be good to get as many people along as possible. All the goals from this season will be shown (thanks to KF and Leeboy) and thats the main reason i'm going.

Just to let everyone know I will be working from home again today. My wife is not well and if she gives me what she's got I am gonna have the right hump ! (no it's not crabs !!! http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif )

This means I will not be logging back in until tonight. But I have even more very exciting developments to report tonight.

I am still waiting for three of Sunday's team to contact me - PM or phone please.

Lastly I need to know (and yes I should know but I can't remember) who washed the kit last weekend please.

Cheers.

I don't know about the "professionally" bit, but I'll do my best!

I should be filming the matches from the gantry so try and keep the play over towards the east stand side of the pitch as the camera angles are awkward when the play is over towards the west *http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I should be at the club at least 1/2 hour before your first match and will do a quick scout of the east to see where you and your mates (if you've got any *http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif ) are standing/seated.

I've got a lot to do at the moment (most notably for the Season Review on Wednesday...be there...followed by Sunday League final at the Hall the following Saturday) so don't expect anything too soon. *I will produce a top quality DVD as a souvenir of your big day. *

As for a reward, buy me a pint if you must. *But as Napster suggested, it would make my day if you'd all turn up for the Season Review and Player of the Season awards on Wednesday night.

Cheers

Kev

Twinkle took the kit last week if I remember rightly. Also I hope I'm not treading on anyones toes by suggessting this but I feel in the absence of Mr B and Snowy that Steve should be captian for the day. Espeacilly after his recent effort and performances.

Sorry to post again guys, but also as a suggestion for our kit if somebody can pull a few strings maybe the club would let us wear the players kits, (even the red would do) it maybe a longshot but definitely worth a go. As it would be the only time any of us could walk out on to roots hall wearing a players shirt.

Jeez, we were banking on you flying over for this one Mike. It would go a long way to rebuffing the suggestions by some on here that you are only a glory fan.

Makes a mental note to play right midfield when we are playing towards the North Bank and left midfield when we kick the other way. http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

Hey, Tone. I'm not kidding; if I hadn't been staring at the design of our bathroom floor tiling for the last five days (due to a rather aggressive bout of food poisoning) we may well have considered a long weekend at home to catch the last game of the season and, of course, the tournament on Sunday. But since I'm still corking my arse with monotonous regularity, it's rather "off-the-cards" ... I'll have to make do with the DVD (thanks, Kev!) ...

Dodgy paella ?? What a bummer - food poisoning is really not funny.

You won't recognise the team when you get the DVD Mike. Hell we even pass the ball to each other now (sometimes) http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

We'll congregate by the Ticket office in the North East corner (by 9.45am) I believe we do get use of the changing room before each game and store our gear in the gym when we're sitting around (waiting for the other teams to join us in the semi's http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif )
