The Aussies posted a mammoth 434-4 (Ponting 164 off 105 balls) after their 50 overs, beating the previous biggest ODI score by 39 runs. Now then, you'd think that would be enough to secure the match and series and after losing Dippenaar at just 3-1 it looked that way. However, Gibbs and Smith shared a 170 odd partenership in quick time and the South Africans are above the required run rate at 260 odd for 2!!!

This has got to down as one of the great games, regardless of whether the S. Africans chase it down? Can anyone else think of a better one day game?

SA 397-6, needing 38 off 4 overs. What a game this has been http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif

Bloody hell - I was nervous watching those last few overs (what was Hall doing?) so God knows how the South Africans felt.:O

It was absolutely magnificent. I have never got so wound up in any international, in any sport that didn't involve England as much as this. I was despearte for SA to win. I thought they had blown it when Hall holed out leaving Ntini exposed. It was a great feeling when Boucher smashed the winning boundary.

Full credit to SA for actually believing they could chase down such a score. The Aussies must be in disbelief. Shame. http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Blimey, I wathched upto when Diepnaar went for 3-1. Didnt think it was worth watching the Aussies walk all over them, alas, how wrong I was!
