A good turnout last night Guys, lets hope we keep it up and it was good to see Snowy back in action after his injury.
It was very clear last night that we all need to work on our first touch,in a small area like last night your first touch is so important it gives you that extra time to pick out your next pass or shoot at goal, also when you have made the pass you have to look at moving into positions to recieve it again to many time we passed the ball and stood still.
I think on Sundays for a little while only I will scr*p Last Man Standing(now stop that crying it is only for a while) and we will work on ball control we will still be doing the running and fitness work but pay a bit more attention to doing it with a ball at are feet.
Last thing I would like to thank all the Gnats that had a piece of me last night thanks guys I look like the elephant man this morning, yes yes no change there then..
Hope to see you all on Sunday, a few of lads asked if we could start training on Sunday a bit early if it is going to be Hot I have sent ORM a PM and we will let you know ASAP.
Thanks again Guys
Uncle
ORM here - the man with the password memory loss. I might have to log in under a new name so your PM could be lost Colin. I'm up for starting training at any time you see fit.
NO ! Bring back last man standing ! I've only done it once and it was really enjoyable. It's also a good measure of how peoples stamina builds up over the next few weeks.
I think the squad is taking shape nicely but there are three key areas that need to be worked on.
1) Ball control
2) Creating space for the man on the ball
3) Learning not to wait for the ball to come to feet.
It was good to see Snowy back. The legs may be slower but you cannot beat a footballing brain. (Also got through an hour with all toys intact http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif ).
All in all not a bad start to our first session capped by a fine winning goal. http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

BTW, Steveh- you're right- running on treadmills then running on hard ground does do your ankles in- spent last night in agony. It seems to be fine now though.

The toys maybe intact, but I ache like a ******* today!!
The base of my back and hips are very stiff, but good to be back.

Glad I'm right about something sometimes! Seriously though, there's nothing wrong with running on treadmills, but you need to mix in some running on hard surfaces too (hopefully midweek training will provide this) otherwise your ankles get too used to running on the cushioned surface of the treadmill and will ache when you run on harder surfaces.
I'm the opposite, I do too much running on hard surfaces, and (as i was explaining to Andee last night) suffer from shin splints, which is worsening again at the moment. http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

Training was supoib last night I thought, very enjoyable and will get us very fit.
Just one gripe, can we decide on what constitutes 'over head height' and stick to it? It got silly at some points last night, surely we can be a bit lenient when its either accidental, or debatable as to whether it is over head height. Either that or nominate one person to decide.....

Not when you let me argue my way out of it by saying it was over head height first, i can't believe you fell for that! You'd have won had you scored that penalty that you should have had too.....

I nominate Gimli to be the judge of what is over head height.

Thoroughly enjoyed myself yesterday, even though my whole body was was quite stiff and it felt weird running but this morning I feel great and my physio session was just what i needed this morning.
Well done to everyone who turned up and hopefully will see the missing few soon.

Yes like everyone else I thought it went well. At first I thought it might be slightly crowded with the amount of numbers we had but wasn't really a problem in the end apart from abit of bunching in the whites half at times (but this was more down to our pressing play and not letting you out of your own half!).
Once we've been doing this for a few weeks I think everyone’s fitness should have improved without a doubt and hopefully our passing and touch.
Like Kev said with the over head height, lets not get stupid about it, if it deflects off of someone then there's no point calling a free kick cause it just wastes time and stops the flow of the game.

I think he probably could hear me moaning about it last night - while i stood around upfront ... and thats exactly what i was saying. You cant give overhead height for a deflection. Thats just f**king stupid. The rule needs to be used probably. In some cases, the long ball (esp. for the whites) was the right way as always had 2 on 2 etc...
Great session and i thought that at the start 3 teams could have been better but i think i was wrong. IMO thats the most we'll ever get for training, so it should never be a problem. if 21 do turn up, maybe 3 lots of 7 would be good ...
Get those knee high socks out next week and follow the trend setter!

I beg to differ. A rule is a rule.
Take tennis for instance. The trajectory of a ball hit by player A could be taking it 30 feet out. If however the ball hits the player B or his racket before striking the ground player A gets the point.
Some of us are able to use this overheight rule to our advantage.
