We really need to appoint a Professional PA Announcer.
Brian Wheeler's efforts are appreciated, but he just doesn't have the voice of style to do a good job. Hopefully a new annnouncer, and a new mircophone (!) may increase the matchday enjoyment as well as changing that god-awful pre-match music.

I have to say that any announcement we heard over the TV from BW sounded very much like a rather small hamster stuck under an upturned tin bath ...

http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif I don't think he was as good as that.

Totally agree - it gives the wrong impression of the club when the sound system is tinny and the mike keeps cutting out. If perception is nine-tenths of reality than it's little wonder we get roundly patronised whenever anyone talks about Roots Hall. Looking and sound 4th division won't cut it.....
As for the cheesy music can the club not look into some fresher sounds? In my opinion the whole match day musical/p.a. experience needs an overhaul. Without wishing to moan any further, bringing Jeff Allen back would be a good start. http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif

Does anyone actually listen to the music*?
Surely its far better to give the chance for the fans to create some atmosphere before the game, rather than trying to deafen everyone.
I've nothing against loud music, but there is a time and a place. It certainly doesn't gee me up and I can't see what it adds to the occasion.
*Obviously the Bluebelles don't or else they'd be in time with it.

I recall a game against Preston c.1997 when the bloke in charge forgot to turn the music off (which was the customary full blast/deafening) so we had The Spice Girls singing "Wannabe" for the first few minutes of the second half. Pony game as I recall so this was a rare comic interlude...
