Couldn't agree more, so don't think I'm being a killjoy by moving this to the cricket forum.

A five-fer at the WACA - well played that man http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

great figures but apparently he didn't even bowl that well! big up Grievious Bodily Harmison however, great to see him back at his best... having him firing gives us a (slim) chance in the Ashes

Yeah i watched it this morning and he looked ok.. saw a replay of his wickets and what a catch by Jones for Symonds wicket.. class! Stats don't lie in the end

Yeah I'm all for attack but we just need to see it through to the end of this day (half an hour) without losing another wicket

as long as strauss gets past 50 i reckon we will get back into this... collingwood will help strauss calm it down and get moving... then we have pietersen and freddy to come in and do some serious damage

Perhaps Fletcher saw Monty in the outfield before the 1st Test and got confused:

The talk is that the pitch won't detoriate much, and possibly the first day would offer the most to the bowlers.

Anyhow, that's close 51/2 - 193 runs behind. We need Strauss and Collingwood to tire out the Aussie bowling attack and then KP and Freddie to have some fun.

To put Monty's performance in context, Shaaaayne has never bagged a five-fer in Perth. Extraordinary. Indeed, if it weren't for that one mental over from Symonds, he'd have finished with 5-75. Even so, 5-92 is stupendous.

Then again, I'm almost more pleased about Harmy's return (finally) to the front line. 4-48 - and, more importantly, trapping Punter in front for two. That may prove to be hugely significant in this match, if not the destiny of the rest of the series.

Now it's time for Strauss to pay us back with the big innings he owes us. He's been very average so far in this series... time for him to put in a big knock.

The first 15 overs are key tomorrow. If Strauss & Colly can see the ball off during those 15, then the ball will be 25 or so overs old... and then between 25 and about 70 - and before the Freemantle doctor starts puffing in the afternoon - the ball ought to play fairly true. That's when we really need to start cashing in, big-style.

Come on England!

you knows it! Strauss does owe us.. and hopefully freddy and pietersen can do some damage. With out giles i think it gives our middle order more trust for them to do the work, instead of having a long tail incase the true batsmen slip up

The reports I've seen suggest that Fletcher did want Monty in the side, but Freddy stuck out for Giles in the first two test.

I had heard likewise. Fletcher may be getting quite a lot of undue stick.

it's slipping away... if we can keep their lead to about 350 i reckon we have a slim chance. if it's any longer then we will have to break records to win

Hong Kong Blue

There have been 1818 completed tests I believe.

In only 6 of those has a score of over 350 been successfully chased in the 4th innings. Although I think someone will soon chase down 450 to win a test, I can't see this being it.
