What I would be interested in is where are we going to train should the two councils approve the plans and the builders move in?

I'm sure they've thought of something, i'm just intested in what it is.

Hmmm Sutton Parish Council are having none of it..

There is no way the planning application for the Training Facilities will be confirmed in the next couple of weeks at this rate, but we knew that anyway..

What are Sutton Parish Council saying then?

What makes me laugh is there reasoning that there are already enough grass pitches in the area.

So a professional club is expected to train on pitches used for Sunday football that are not taken care of properly, are full of divets and potholes and one of which is used for cricket?

And the sound pollution will affect the cottages?

the sound of 20 or so players playing football on a pitch will cause distress, yet the amount of traffic that speeds down the road opposite doesn't?

There are clearly not good enough reasons. I would love to know how the quailty of life would be bought down by the flood lights being on once now and again......and the training is in the day, so its not like they will be on all the time. Dust pollution is a good one too. How many people live in Sutton again?

The whole of Barling and Sutton has a population of around 1,800

How much sway does Sutton Parish Council have? What is the chance of Rochford taking on board what they have to say? I would hope that Rochford would realise that their arguments are not that persuasive.

However, a part of me is concerned that they are using this as a way to stop the stadium. I wonder if their thought process is something along the lines that SUFC need the training pitches otherwise the whole scheme is not viable, so lets go after the easy option in the hope that we can scupper the stadium application without even mentioning it.

I think if they are worried about light pollution and noise from the training pitches they probably wont like the noise and light from 22,000 shrimpers in the Stadium every Saturday afternoon either http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

If the Stadium gets agreed it would be absurd for the training ground not to on those grounds, after all the training gorund is the part that will affect residents the least.

I cant see us scrapping the ground just because the training facilities were rejected anyway.

it strikes me that they have applied objections to the Stadium a a whole to the only application applicable to their parish, ie the the training pitches.

The objections based on 454 parking spaces causing noise , polution and congestion are absurd as daily I can't see more than 50 spaces being in use (50 cars going down the road then 4 hours later 50 cars going back, the equivalent of 25 families from the parish doing the school run)
1 saturday in two there will be 450 cars doing the each way trip, an increase i agree but hardly life threatening considering there is a damn great industrial estate on the other side of the road along with a refuse tip and a railway !
i see , once again, the cren and the cem have been brought up. Agreed training will be taking place the same time as cremations and burials. but as they do now and in roughly the same place I can't see it causing a problem. 454 spaces and the associated traffic will only effect one saturday in two and the odd evening, when there will not be any services.....

It's all scaremongering and there is not one worthy point made in that letter that should place the development in any doubt as far as i'm concerned..

They do seem to be making lots of comments regarding the stadium which isnt even in their remit.

We will find out in 2 weeks...

Despite all the negativity of the preceeding letters from Sutton & Rochford, reading between the lines (as you do), they seem to be implying that all they need is convincing that traffic and flooding matters are going to be covered adequately.

If Uncle Ron can convince them of that, I see no problem with approval tonight. I admit to not having good knowledge of councillor jargon despite spending well over an hour in the freezing cold yesterday at the Civic Centre, so some of the terminology leaves me feeling a little vague about the accuracy of this post, but just as yesterday, I am quietly confident it will work out in the end and after yesterday's positives, Rochford may feel that they will have no allies if they say NO (maybe?).

Dont know if ive missed something, but on the training plans, there are only pitches and no actual centre for players to get changed etc and eat. Will they be doing this at the stadium and walking up to the pitches or is there something else?

Yes I believe that this will be the case. My memory seems to think that RM stated this at a Q & A that I attended some time ago.

If this is the case, how the hell are we ever going to get Academy status?

I cant see RDC granting permission a few years down the line for a whacking great Academy Centre.

There is a big wedge of land between the training pitches, flats and waitrose (I think?)...

Perhaps Ron has plans for that too - but hasnt yet told anyone about them ;) best to build the stadium first, then use that land for the SUFC Football Academy - Shrimpfontaine!

No chance Spiff, that site is an age old iron fort or something, theres no way we would get planning permission for that particular area.

Perhaps we're going to buy the two cottages and redevelop them?

Rochford Council could hardly refuse - look at their Council Offices! ;)
