Good toss to win (assuming Northants didn't put us in). Gives Danish a couple of days off hopefully, before he has to bowl us to victory.

Another day, another first class century for Alastair Cook. His 15th already and he's still only 22!

248-2, Cook out for 136.
Both wickets have gone to spinners (Monty and Brown), looks good for Danish.
Chopra 30*
Bopara 5*

A shame nobody apart from no11 Danish could offer any support for the big man, left stranded on 34.
Ronnie's average is over 200 in the County Championship now!

Hmm, could be interesting - Northants now 222/7 - 112 behind. Panesar in to bat.
If we can wrap up their innings with 70 runs or so in the tank, it could make for a very interesting match indeed.

@rse! 89-run partnership for the 8th wicket, 37-runs and counting for the 9th! 343/8 at the mo.
Hmm... Monty could have a field day with the ball if/when we eventually bowl them out. Not good.
:(

Finally got them out for 416, which means the last 3 wickets put on 199, same old Essex.
Anyway we are 7-0 at lunch, 75 behind. Tough to get a win from here.

That ver der dot com Wath chap is pretty damn handy with the bat though. We should have got 450+ which would have been good, but 5 ducks never really help!

As compared to our lower order, who contributed five consecutive ducks.

161-6. 79 runs ahead.
Pretty shocking considering we were 240-1 and then had them 217-7

Make that for 7, please. Such a long batting line-up have failed twice, except the openers.
8 now...
