a major blow for Essex - Was solid and very reliable and leaves a bit of a gaping hole in the top order. Pretty much ends any hope of doing well in the Championship this season

Not entirely unexpected. He's been a great servant to Essex over the period he's been here. Essex's batting certainly looks less solid without him, but with him struggling with his hip injury, we may have been without him for most of the season regardless.
Lets hope he can be as much of a success for England, as he was for Essex.
