The plans for Roots Hall have been submitted, Some of the crap that people post as responses anger me.

Two sides to every story is the fact of the matter, as a blues fanatic I cant wait for the new ground etc etc, but some of the arguments against are valid, Dont get me wrong I still have violent feelings towards the anti brigade.

Usual NIMBY comments we see in any article about Fossetts or RH's redevelopment. 10,000 square feet isn't that big for a supermarket though.

Southend has and always be an urban area. I dont understand why people are so against and surprised at urban regeneration. Southend is the biggest town in essex and developments like this are needed to keep southend at the top. If people dont like concrete in a big town, then move to the countryside. You have to expect large scale developments in urban areas im afraid. And this town needs it!

Some comments are ludicrous... "It'll get rejected because it's a labour government and we're a tory town"

Think its wrong a football stadium could be buillt at Fossits Farm Think the site it should, no MUST be handed over to us the travling comunity so that we can have a place to call our own should we dicide to sell it and move else where than we must be permitted to do so.

Oh my god, thats got to be a wind up with that name. If not he wants to be given land so he can then sell it.
Unbelievable.

Does the world really need ANOTHER supermarket?
The Sainsburys in the town centre is only about 10 minutes walk away - are they planning on shutting it?

Yes, they want to relocate because the current site doesn't cater for what they want to expand on selling, e.g. Garden furniture.
