You missed Credit Suisse First Boston. They bought half of what was BZW the rest merged into Barclays Capital.

And no I do not work for any of them, in fact my office can be found sitting on top of Liverpool St Station http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

The title someone at work gave me(probably mockingly) is 'Goods Relocation Executive' which basically means putting medical equipment into boxes or packages depending on size, weight etc, and sending it out to hospitals or other medical companies. I'm also at sixth form studying a whole bunch of A levels and looking into taking Uni. courses in Teaching.

He's probably a bit young to remember that most gallant and honorable of forces...

Picking up on another of Luke's misspellings, I learnt on Tuesday that the word "perk" comes from the older word "perquisite", which is, according to Webster's 1913 dictionary:

Something gained from a place or employment over and above the ordinary salary or fixed wages for services rendered; especially, a fee allowed by law to an officer for a specific service.

So there you go...

Controller for a Rescue & Recovery company based in Basildon. If you breakdown and the AA or RAC cant be bothered to come out, then its us who get the job. Occasionally go out on the road to play and love leaving stroppy seafront cruisers stranded for hours on end. Main drawback is having to work weekends which plays havoc with my social life, ie, I dont get one.

It does indeed have percs. Mrs Badger's younger brother works for the MOD police stationed at an RAF base in North Yorkshire.

He gets to carry Pistol and Machine Gun and has recently passed his Rifle examination. He is always armed and during the the recent invasion of Iraq was stationed at the base where the American bombers were taking off from. A woman tried breaking in to the base and he was moments away from shooting her until she gave herself up.....

Exciting stuff....especially when he's only 21

I used to work on an MOD site and a new graduate started work there.

One of the tasks he was given was to take a folder full of of timesheets from one building to another. As he was just walking out of the door for the 100 yard walk someone grabbed him and said "What the hell do you think you're doing?". He then said that her had to go to the MOD police station and sign himself out a gun for the walk between the two buildings in case he was attacked by any enemy agents. The poor kid turned white as a sheet and but procedded to go and ask the MOD police for a gun. The look on his face when he returned was priceless.

Oh dear - full work title

Head of Business Planning and Marketing, Inventory Management

Job description - buggered if I know. I haven't had an appraisal or targets set for the last four years.

The plus side gets me plenty of corporate entertainment and loads of lunches and dinners. I'm also second in command of a team of 17.

The downside is that the job also involves lots of meetings with lots of *rseholes. Also the boss is a w*nker and is causing me to work longer hours than I should be to cover his *rse the lazy good for nothing to**er. One day he'll trip himself up and I'll be waiting.

Close... but no cigar for me!

You can't beat the views from Canary Wharf... you want to be on the 50th Floor of One Canada Square on a day like today - the views are stunning.

I went up there on a clear day in winter and could see as far as:

Canvey
Windsor Castle
The South Downs
Alexandra Palace

Awesome.

Luke, Mrs h1510 is a copper, joined recently and loves it - although presuming by the fact you have quoted 22k, you are talking about joining Essex police? Personally I would go for the Met, Its a lot more interesting(essex being mainly traffic cops) and you shouldn't have too far to travel as they try to post you as close to home as poss but the pay increases by 5k or so to start with.....
