Indeed. I thought the proof of evidence to be particularly good - very in-depth. I passed it to a neutral fan (he supports the Ar$e) in the office and he was impressed by it.

However, unfortunately it's not the officer we need to convince, it's the secretary of state.

Very professional well argued documents - well done chaps!

With regards to the comment (Inspector reiterates it’s not actually his decision): can someone clarify what the inspectors role is? Does he write a recommendation and then this is considered by the Secretary of State? How much influence does he have?

He writes a detailed report and issues a recommendation of whether permission should be granted or denied with details of his reasoning being contained within the said report.
The final decision is up to the Secretary of State.

So it would be interesting to know how many times the Secretary of State has gone against an inspector's recommendation. Also, would the Inspector's recommendation be public knowledge before putting it to the Secretary of State?

Not sure about that, although I presume the report written by the inspector would be made public.

how many more days is this expected to take?

Mr. Benedict

Scheduled for 14 days IIRC, but not sure if that was working days or total days. It'll end when there are no more presentations to be made, so it could end well before it's scheduled time.
