Please place any songs you can suggest in this thread. They don't have to be Blue Voice related, and any new, catchy and simple chants would be ideal...
The idea is we post all songs in here, so everyone can learn them.
I'll get the ball rolling..
"We're the Blue Voice, We're the Blue Voice, We're the Blue Voice over 'ere"

I was going to say exactly the same song but with a different ending, and it would be repeated over and over without any stopping!!

Think we are in need of a proper song that make us stand out from the rest. Think Millwall's "no one likes us" and Leeds anthem "Marching on Together" are great, really send a chill down the back of the spine. Think this is the direction we should be looking in as they **** all the usual tench. Great Escape, no thanks.

To the tune of the boring old "Barmy Army" chant..
A more adventurous spin on it...
Sea-side, Blue-White Army,
Sea-side, Blue-White Army,
Sea-side, Blue-White Army (Repeat x 20 minutes!, like on Tuesday with Great Escape!)
Will attempt to get this going on Saturday, with the help of the bass drum... please join in guys, again this is one that will sound great if we ALL sing it loud and proud..

I remember hearing the other one at the Oxford Replay and thought it was pretty shocking and decided to find a new one.
Super, Super Alan
Super, Super Alan
Super, Super Alan
Super Alan McCormack
What do you think?
Derived from an old Arsenal chant.

This is one I heard at an Arsenal game once and thought we could change the endings a bit. Its pretty good, generally.
-Someone shouts out-
"What do we think of Col U?"
-Everyone shouts back-
"Sh*t!"
-Same guy that started it shouts out again-
"Who do we think is sh*t?"
-Everyone shouts back-
"Col U"
-Starting guy shouts out, once again-
"Thank you."
-Everyone shouts back, and then bursts into song on the part in italics-
"That's alright. Please come again."
"We hate Col U,
and We hate Col U," - Song repeated until it dies out.

It should be easy enough. The Barmy Army normally come up with a 12 days of Christmas for each cricket tour, telling the story of each tour. If someone starts it off, it soon catches on and people pick up the words and most versions are word perfect.
I'm happy to start the song off if people are willing to join in. With someone leading its pretty easy to do. No promises that I don't lapse into "twelve cold lion beers, eleven dodgy curries, ten cheap wickets, nine shots of arrack, eight weeks on tablets, seven in a tuk-tuk, six beers per placard, five days in Galle (we hope), four more runs, three proud lions, two cheating umpires and Murali gets his record" though.

Missed the boat a wee bit though....is it not more of a seasonal song??
Its a celebration of Steve Tilson's achievements rather than of a time of the year.
Unbelievably we don't have a single song celebrating the achievements of probably the greatest manager in the club's history. We could change Christmas into something else.
To the tune of mull of kintyre -
Southend roots hall,
The mist rolling in from the Thames,
My desire is always to be found at
Southend roots hall..
Many miles have I travelled,
Many games have I seen,
Following Southend my favourite team.
Many hours have I spent in the west stand choir,
Singing southend roots hall,
My only desire.
southend roots hall,
The mist rolling in from the Thames,
My desire is always to be found at
southend roots hall...
November the 7th 2006.
Eastwood had put it between the white sticks,
Man U at home, in a packed roots hall crowd,
Singing southend roots hall,
The boys did us proud...
Southend roots hall,
The mist rolling in from the Thames,
My desire is always to be found at
Southend roots hall..

Correct,
If we are going to get this to work we need the lyrics to appear on the same page of he MDP every home game...trouble is we then run in to copyright for any recognised song.......I have tracked down Paul Simon's legal beagles and i have been in contact with them to get some feedback on the possibility of using the lyrics for BOTW.
I know it is not decided on yet but there is no harm in being proactive as appose to reactive!!
I will keep in contact with you via PM to let you know my progress

This is one I heard at an Arsenal game once and thought we could change the endings a bit. Its pretty good, generally.
-Someone shouts out-
"What do we think of Col U?"
-Everyone shouts back-
"Sh*t!"
-Same guy that started it shouts out again-
"Who do we think is sh*t?"
-Everyone shouts back-
"Col U"
-Starting guy shouts out, once again-
"Thank you."
-Everyone shouts back, and then bursts into song on the part in italics-
"That's alright. Please come again."
"We hate Col U,
and We hate Col U," - Song repeated until it dies out.
good one there. who is willing to start this?

Super Southend,
No-one likes us,
We don't care.
Cause we are Southend,
Super Southend,
We are Southend,
From the Hall!

Robson-Kanu, Robson-Kanuuuu,
He has no song, 'cause his name is too long!

He's Blue!
He's Sound
He didnt cost a pound
Super Doug! Super Doug!
Col U are you listening,

Cause we're 3 points in front,

This would fit right in with our old theme of chants
We hate Colchester United, (SCUM)
We hate Orient too,
We hate that prick Bailey,
But Southend we love you

When Southend United come out to play, we sing at home, we sing away

for the chelsea we might need to sing this
This is the Self Preservation Society,
The Self Preservation Society,
Go wash your German band and boat race too,
Comb your bonny fair; weve got a lot to do,
Put on your dickey bow and your Peckham rye,
Cos times soon hurrying by
Get your skates on, mate,
Get your skates on, mate,
No bib around your Gregory Peck today.
Hey!
Drop your plates of meat
Right upon the seat,
This is the Self Preservation Society,
The Self Preservation Society,
Put on your almond rocks and daisy roots,
Brush your Hampstead Heath; wear your whistle and flute,
Lots of la-di-dahs and cockneys here,
Look alive and get in your gear
Get your skates on, mate,
Get your skates on, mate,
No bib around your Gregory Peck today.
Hey!
Drop your plates of meat
Right upon the seat

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBVtezz6Ft0
The night seems to fade,
But the moonlight lingers on
There are wonders for everyone
The stars shine so bright,
But they`re fading after dawn
There is magic in Southend town
(chorus)
Oh Southend town,
The place we long to be
If we had the whole world
We would give it away
Just to see, the Shrimpers play
And when we are kings,
Or champions of the league
Hear the Blue Voice everywhere, yeah
So hear the voices ring,
Of United at the Hall/Farm
We'll be singing in Southend town
(chorus)
And when we are kings,

The lyrics of this seem to be crying out to be converted into a Southend-related song:
Big wheels keep on turning
Carry me home to see my kin
Singing songs about the Southland
I miss Alabamy once again
And I think its a sin, yes
Well I heard mister Young sing about her
Well, I heard ole Neil put her down
Well, I hope Neil Young will remember
A Southern man don't need him around anyhow
Sweet home Alabama
Where the skies are so blue
Sweet Home Alabama
Lord, I'm coming home to you
In Birmingham they love the governor
Now we all did what we could do
Now Watergate does not bother me
Does your conscience bother you?
Tell the truth
Sweet home Alabama
Where the skies are so blue
Sweet Home Alabama
Lord, I'm coming home to you
Here I come Alabama
Now Muscle Shoals has got the Swampers
And they've been known to pick a song or two
Lord they get me off so much
They pick me up when I'm feeling blue
Now how about you?
Sweet home Alabama
Where the skies are so blue
Sweet Home Alabama
Lord, I'm coming home to you

Just an idea..... could also be used by other clubs in a similar situation
To the tune of "You've got to pick-a-pocket or two." from the musical 'Oliver!'
Long version:
In this world, one thing counts
In the bank, large amounts
I'm afraid money don't grow on trees,
We've got to pick-a-pocket or two
We’ve got to pick-a-pocket or two, boys,
We’ve got to pick-a-pocket or two.
Large amounts don't grow on trees.
We’ve got to pick-a-pocket or two.
Why should we break our backs
Stupidly paying tax?
Better get some untaxed income
Better to pick-a-pocket or two.
We’ve got to pick-a-pocket or two, boys
We’ve got to pick-a-pocket or two.
Why should we all break our backs?
Better pick-a-pocket or two.
Taxman came, what a crook!
Wanting us to balance the books.
They’ve only given 7 days
700-k we’ve got to pay.
Get out and pick-a-pocket or two
We’ve got to pick-a-pocket or two, boys
We’ve got to pick-a-pocket or two.
Taxmen came for their loot
We’ve got to pick-a-pocket or two.

Just an idea..... could also be used by other clubs in a similar situation
To the tune of "You've got to pick-a-pocket or two." from the musical 'Oliver!'
Long version:
In this world, one thing counts
In the bank, large amounts
I'm afraid money don't grow on trees,
We've got to pick-a-pocket or two
We’ve got to pick-a-pocket or two, boys,
We’ve got to pick-a-pocket or two.
Large amounts don't grow on trees.
We’ve got to pick-a-pocket or two.
Why should we break our backs
Stupidly paying tax?
Better get some untaxed income
Better to pick-a-pocket or two.
We’ve got to pick-a-pocket or two, boys
We’ve got to pick-a-pocket or two.
Why should we all break our backs?
Better pick-a-pocket or two.
Taxman came, what a crook!
Wanting us to balance the books.
They’ve only given 7 days
700-k we’ve got to pay.
Get out and pick-a-pocket or two

When I used to stand on the North Bank [what great days they were!?] in the 70s and 80s one song that we always used to sing was 'I Do Like to Be Beside the Seaside'. It is an old Music Hall song which is very catchy and as we are a Seaside club would appear to be the perfect anthem for Southend!
You can find the tune by searching 'I do like to be beside the seaside mp3' on Google.
The chorus could be adapted something like:
Oh, I Do Like to Be Beside the Seaside
I Do Like to Be Beside the Sea
Oh, I Do Like to Stroll Along the Prom, Prom, Prom
As the Mighty Blues March On and On
Just Let Me Be Beside the Seaside
You Can Be A Shrimper Just Like Me
And there's lots of Goals Besides
For the team that's on the rise
Beside the Seaside
Beside the Sea
into "Sea Sea Seasiders, Sea Sea Seasiders!"
No other club does it and not many other clubs could sing it as there aren't that many 'Seaside' clubs. Even Blackpool fans only sing the distinctly unimaginative ditty 'Seaside, seaside, seaside!
Any thoughts "Blue Voice"?

I think I should bring back up the anthem debate , as I think its a perfect time to have an anthem sung with passion ;) What about He Aint Heavy He's My Brother By The Hollies , would sound quite good to me ;)
How about ELO's "Mr Blue Sky"? It's perfect irony for our current situation plus feelgood tune for when/if we pull through the current crisis. Also the last verse is very apt for the problems we have at the mo....
Sun is shinin' in the sky,
There ain't a cloud in sight
It's stopped rainin'
Everybody's in a play
And don't you know
It's a beautiful new day.
Runnin' down the avenue,(Pant, Pant, Pant)
See how the sun shines brightly
In the city on the streets
Where once was pity,
Mr. Blue Sky is living here today.
(Chorus)
Mr. Blue Sky, please tell us why,
You had to hide away
For so long where did we go wrong.
Hey there Mr. Blue
We're so pleased to be with you
Look around see what you do,
Everybody smiles at you.
Hey you with the pretty face,
Welcome to the human race
A celebration Mr. Blue Sky's
Up there waitin' and today
Is the day we've waited for
(Chorus)
Mr. Blue you did it right,
But soon comes Mr. Night,
Creepin' over, now his
Hand is on your shoulder,
Never mind I'll remember you this way.
(Chorus)

What about a song from the good times!
I remember at the play-off final promotion celebration Rocking all over the world - status quo was played.
;) Worth a good luck punt

I already posted this elsewhere, but in case you missed it
the tune should be obvious
"Don't blame it on the sunshine
Don't blame it on the moonlight
Don't blame it on the good times
Blame it on Zaaboubie"
Should be a good one for a Zaaboub goal celebration too (accompanied by the actions of course!)

We like Zaboubie we like Zaboubie on a Saturday night.
I think Wrexham sang this for their player Taboubi.

Heard this in the supermarket yesterday & thought it could make a catchy tune for us - to the tune of "National Express" by Divine Comedy

Go to Southend-on-Sea, that's the place you should be, it will make you smile..
All human life is here, from the feeble old dear to the screaming child..
From the student who knows, that to have one of those, would be suicide,
To the family chav, chavhandling the pram with eternal pride
And everyone sings..
we're going where the shrimpers play...
baba bada ba ba bada...
Down in Southend-on-Sea, there's a jolly lady, selling crisps and tea
She'll provide you with drinks and theatrical winks, for a sky high fee..
Mini skirts were in style when she danced in the aisle, back in 63
But it's hard to get by, when your arse is the size of a small country..
And everyone sings...
we're going where the shrimpers play...
baba bada ba ba bada...

I like that, but, A LOT of our fans can't sing Barmy Army in time. We might come across a little problem with songs with as many lyrics as that!

Southend fans cant seem to cope with long songs
I hope some fans singing a song to heartbeat , which isnt exactly the most common song around but it very catchy.
Could go something like
Southend
Southend United
They are the team for me !
DUDUDUDUDUDUDUDUDUDUDUDU Repeat !

Good grief I must have too much time on my hands! However, I believe this is important (to me anyway).
I have been watching Southend for over 35 Year’s and have been to many, many away games. Which I have enjoyed immensely.
The thing that floats my boat is watching the behavior of the away fans whether it’s them or us.
The one thing I’ve been jealous of is most clubs having a song that is synonymous to them!
Spurs, Man City, Leeds, Spam, Arse, Stoke etc.… Some of the lower leagues have something but nothing clear cut.
I have been extremely lucky in my career and have travelled pretty much all over the world and am only in my late 40’s.
So I’ll get to the point. The first time I went to NY playing on the radio was, “Fly me to the Moon”
It inspires, fills me with joy and generally I never get bored of hearing it, especially when seeing the Skyscrapers of NY. So its on my iPod and it has been played hundreds of times, when flying into Manhattan.
Therefore I thought it could be an anthem for us, so a slightly adapted one below: Thoughts, or tell me shut the F up???
If its not this one I think we should have something……:nope::'(
Old- Leave out Words in brackets - Music just in case
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oCW9Hey6IVY
Fly me to the moon
Let me play (among the stars) in League One
Let me see what (spring is) Roots Hall like
On a, Jupiter and Mars
In other words, (hold my) Clap your hand’s
In other words, (baby) Sturrock, kiss me
Fill my heart with song
And let me sing for ever more
You are all I long for
All I worship and adore
In other words, please be (true) Blue
In other words, I love (you) The Blues
Fill my heart with song
Let me sing for ever more
You are all I long for
All I worship and adore
In other words, please be (true) Blue
In other words, in other words
(I) We love you.
