Check this one out lads & lassies. A "must listen to" the words alone do not portrey the anthem type style.

Get to http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=klvzf-6BZ [very slow start]

Holly Holy by Neil Diamond, after slow start but rises to crushendo,

With adaption/change of words this could be one hell of a spine chilling Blues Theme/Anthem, pre, during or half-time.

Diamonds Lyrics are below [as adapted]:- We can better ???

Solely Wholly Blues
Dream of only you
Where I am, what I am
What I believe in
Soley Wholly

Solely Wholly Blues
Wanting only you
The team comes
And they run just like the wind
Soley Wholly

I've got soul but I am not a soldier

I've got soul but I am not a soldier

I've got soul but I am not a soldier etc etc

Solely Wholly Blues
Make the Hall go wild
And the team
Let it be filled with tomorrow
Soley Wholly

I've got soul but I am not a soldier

I've got soul but I am not a soldier

I've got soul but I am not a soldier etc....

Solely Wholly.. Blues.....Dream of only you...... Wholly Solely.

Diamonds Lyrics are below:- We can better

Written by Neil Diamond

Holly holy eyes
Dream of only you
Where I am, what I am
What I believe in
Holly holy
Holly holy dream
Wanting only you
And she comes
And I run just like the wind will
Holly holy

Sing a song
Sing a song of songs
Sing it out
Sing it strong

Call the sun in the dead of the night
And the sun's gonna rise in the sky
Touch a man who can't walk upright
And that lame man, he's gonna fly
And I fly
And I fly

Holly holy love
Take the lonely child
And the seed
Let it be filled with tomorrow
Holly holy

Sing a song
Sing a song of songs
Sing it out
Sing it strong

Call the sun in the dead of the night
And the sun's gonna rise in the sky
Touch a man who can't walk upright
And that lame man, he's gonna fly
And I fly, yeah
And I fly

Holly holy dream
Dream of only you
Holly holy love
Holly holy love

Have not a clue how that goes mate, and that's despite being of the right era agewise myself.

Nice song but to slow in my eyes.

Cheers, still have no recollection of ever having heard that before. Can't really see it fitting in as a football anthem.

Consider replacing the word Blues after: Holy - has a really nice ring to it.

The Song of Songs section 1/2 way through is interesting. Sing it strong is the key area of lyrics that get across the message that Smithy has been pushing for yonks.

Listening through to end you will find the tempo and emotion rising throughout. Need only three or so verses out of the whole lot, but IMO this has real class and something old but original that I don't think any other club use ?

Maybe Neil could be forced out of retirement to open the new stadium with a variation that he would be content to render himself ?

Shoot for the stars. He is well known and liked by many mature ladies, of an age to recall him live. Has a massive following, I believe.

Have you actually listened through whole song ?

Your ears are your second best asset after your eyes.

Also you need a little immagination with the change of words to personalise it to SUFC. That would be easy enough to a half decent songwriter

Some songs, like food/beer/wine/people, can grow on you over a little longer time.

Try listening once every other day for a week and if you are still of the same opinion, bin it.

It was a fun way to relax & waste some time then, whilst celebrtating our victory with a glass of red, watching Swansea -v- Bristol Rovers [with sound down] and waiting for the final test -v- New Zealand to start.

Whilst we're on the subject of Neil Diamond, how about:-

Song Sung Blue

Song sung blue, everybody knows one
Song sung blue, every garden grows one

Me and you are subject to
The blues now and then
But when you take the blues
And make a song
You sing 'em out again
You sing 'em out again

Song sung blue, weeping like a willow
Song sung blue, sleeping on my pillow
Funny thing,
But you can sing it with a cry in your voice
And before you know it get to feeling good
You simply got no choice

Me and you are subject to
The blues now and then
But when you take the blues
And make a song
You sing 'em out again

Song sung blue, weeping like a willow
Song sung blue, sleeping on my pillow
Funny thing,
But you can sing it with a cry in your voice
And before you know it start to feeling good
You simply got no choice

Song sung blue
Song sung blue
Funny thing,
But you can sing it with a cry in your voice

The charts have been littered with golden oldies making comebacks.

Prolific singer - songwriter Neil Diamond believe in excess of 260

Song Sung Blue is in rather a high key and not the feel of a shout it out anthem for me.

I recognise that greater majority of us relate mainly to the music we lived out our teeange/early 20's years. Horizons seem to me to broaden in later years.

Bit like the ladies, at 50 still find 20's yro and 50's + very attractive !
