It was nice to play for 90 mins for once and I should of got about 3 goals. *http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Really enjoyed the game today. At last it seems as if it is all coming together. Dont really want to single out any one person for praise because everyone played well so I will "single" out two. Snowy- as usual a rock at the back, doing probably 90% of our talking and a great goal.
Big Al- I thought he had a storming game. So solid and reliable. Really played the holding midfield role very well.
That gave Kev the freedom to push up and he scored a couple of goals. A great corner from Dan and an equally great header to stick one in for the boys.
Axeman had a few great runs through the middle of the park and once again was the main instigator for quick passing moves.
I could go on but am getting bored of typing now.
Last point- I am going to give up on my goal kicks. I reckon my Mum could throw further.

Great stuff lads. At times we actually started to play some nice stuff and it shows we have the ability to do that which is why it can be frustrating at times when people choose the wrong option. The 3rd goal was a quality move which Snowy started and finished. Thanks to Dan for the deliveries as well. Could of had a hat-trick of headers but il take one ...

http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

B was superb at left back! Didnt know he had it in him although he seemed to be on the floor every 10 minutes.

I had a lot of freedom in midfield as Al just sat which allowed me to do what i can do for the first time with you lot. If you allow me to be lazy (at times) you will reap the rewards.

http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Good stuff and its nice to get a win under the belt. Need to get a couple of games organised for January (Dan's team) and the next training is on the 28th Dec before the Oxford game as there is none next week due to the X-mas bash ...

EDIT: The team was nearly at its strongest but the partnership of Snowy and Axe looks extremely promising whilst Colin is out. As for my injury (as I'm sure you would like to know how it is) seems OK but when i stretch my calf it hurts a lot. First time i had done any exercise for 3 weeks as you have been able to tell.

http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

EDIT 2: Also a big thank you to Hilary for tending my life-threatening injury. Also thanks to Wayne, Snowy and Axe for lumping me off the pitch!!

good game lads, i thought we were quite impressive today and gave ourselves a bit of self respect.

A few people who i thought did stand out were, Snowy who pretty much ran the game, wayne was almost unbeatable in goal, carter i thought had a great game today as did dan who worked really hard, not to say that these guys were the only ones who performed because everybody had a good game today.

On the floor football was great, especially the build up to snowy's goal and our corners spoke for themselves really, all in all a strong performance from all eleven players, and of course Colin shouting from the sidelines http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Well done lads

Dont want to dwell on the negative's too much but when i went off it looked like we had lost a bit on concentration and shape and gaps where appearing ....

.... i was then informed by Andee and Benji that that had been the case for the whole game!!

http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Seriously though, i know playing with 10 men isn't easy but we became a bit sloppy and should of had a few more goals.

Fantastic performance and not before time ! Perhaps that will give us the self belief we need. The quality of opposition in the league next year will be marginally better than that of today. We have NOTHING to be afraid of.

Some of the passing and moves were outstanding. It would have been nice to have seen how that team today performed with a full strength Sutton team but I can guarantee the result would have been the same, just a bit closer.

It would be really unfair to single out individuals (but I'm going to do it anyway http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif ). If you are not mentioned it is NOT a bad thing.

Starting off with Leeboy ! Who was coerced into playing for the opposition. Lee, I dunno whether you agree with me or not but I thought you were more than comfortable at full back and have possibly found your position.

Dan/Dave. Run ragged all match and worked well together. A couple of Sutton players said to me afterwards you've got to learn to shoot earlier.

Carter. The best game I've seen you have.

Barry. Much better performance, after spending the last two or three games running around with a MOM award hanging around your neck.

Al - Superb performance. Made Kev's game easy for him.

Snowy - No need to get the ovaltine out just yet

Axe - With performaces like that we need you for 90 mins every game next season.

Kev - Gifted a free header from a corner. Who was supposed to be marking you ? http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Wayne/Todd - Apart from the 5th goal today I thought both keepers were outstanding.

GNH - Ho Hum. Liked to let the game flow. - On a serious note we badly need to practise throw ins !

BARRY - ANY NEWS ON THE MATCHBALL ? ? ? ?

Well played today lads. I thought we were quality all over the park, and actually passing it around on the floor instead of the old 'hoof'.

Everyone who played today should be pleased with their own personal performance (i know i am http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif ) because nobody had a bad game, but the main thing is we, as a team, won the game.

Special mention to Alex (Big-Al) who was absolute quality today, as well as B who did well at full back, and to kev who scored 2 goals and perhaps could have headed a few more.

Dan.

Judas Leeboy here,

well done to all the lads yesterday, playing for the opposition it really gave myself and Tony a chance to see what you were like from a different perspective and there were so many positives its hard to pick just one.

I thought Mr B had an excellent game, considering his ( non ) fitness regime and the fact he lasted the full 90 made it even more surprising.

Dan once again had another quality game, and he and Dave look possibly the best striking partnership, if only Dave would take his chances earlier or pass the ball then you would've had a hatful each.

Tony, if you look at the original positions we all put down you'll see that I put RB as 2nd choice.I am happy to play anywhere, but that is my preferred outfield role.
The only problem is, Carter is well before me at the moment and Axe has staked a claim as well ( although after yesterday he may well be our new Colin )

MrB

Well I had a permanent headache yesterday after the knee in the side of the head (accidental), some nice abrasions and bruises down my thigh from the same guys studs (also accidental), large bruise on my elbow (unknown origin) but worst is the two inch soft bruisy lump running across my foot/ankle after Snowy stamped on me (undoubtedly purposeful).

All worth it though, doesn't matter whether the opposition were weakened, the fact is we finally got a win and proved to ourselves that we can play. Let's carry this over to the New Year, am already looking forward to our next match.

Well done guys.

yeah, Toddy and their left back both hesitated and left it for each other, so the demon Harris nipped in with a 2 yard header.

Fair play to him tho for being in the right place at the right time.

Must say I was very pleased with the teams performance.
The first half must have been a joy to watch, with lots of movement and passing on the floor.
My vote for MOTM goes to Big Al, who I spoke to before the game and asked to sit in the middle of the park collect the ball and pass it around. He did exactly was was asked of him and as said before it let Kev / Axe / myself the freedom to have a run forward.
Dave also impressed me yesterday, his pace was awesome, and roasted the defenders on a number of occasions. Is this man our very own Henry??
Thanks also to Tony, Leeboy, Toddy, and Shrek for playing for Sutton, without you guys we would not have had a game.
Also GNH thanks for doing the ref thing, it always helps having someone out there.

Been watching your results with interest ever since my side (Rylands Fc) played you a few months back. Glad to here you got a good win under your belts as it will obviously help with the confidence side of things.

When you played us the main difference between the two sides was the factor of fitness and I assure you that as long as you continue training and showing the dedication it seems you have to the cause then you will have no trouble in sustainting a good league position in the Sceptre league next year.

Just to give you an idea of the standard (and not to gloat) we are currently in second place in the league behind Sort FC (Bernie Friend's side) who are romping the league at present. Considering it was only a 10 minute spell against us that allowed us to nick the win (and a scoreline that certainly didn't reflect the full ninety minutes) I can honestly say that we have played at least 3 or 4 sides so far this season who failed to give us a tenth of the challenge that you guys did.

I hope you continue to build upon this win and long may the victories continue in the New Year.

Cheers

Cheers horse. I've also been watching your results with interest and the Sceptre website is fantastic. We've also had a few games and enquiries with us being mentioned on the site's home page.

On the fitness side I'd say we're now a 70 minute team rather than a 45 minute team. On Sunday if the opposition had been a bit stronger the last 20 minutes would have been a tough test.

Please remember us if you get a free week in the new year.
Rylands have a great young team but I'd like to think the result will be a lot closer next time around.
