If you’re into watching serious football, full of pride and passion, then this game is NOT for you. If however you fancy a relaxed day out including a kick about then this match might appeal.
Having been to Witham last year when we won 8-1 this match appeals to me more than the other friendlies, mainly because it is on a Saturday, so for anyone that is or will be starved of football by the 19th July here are some details:
BY TRAIN
Southend Victoria 11.26 arrive Shenfield 11.58
Shenfield 12.12 arrive Braintree 12.53
Return
Braintree 18.00 arrive Shenfield 18.40
Shenfield 19.00 arrive Southend Vic. 19.31
If these times don’t suite then trains are every hour at the same times.
Prices:
From Southend Vic £15.40 (or £10.15 with a rail card), or from Shenfield with a rail card £6.20
Admission price to the ground is £10 which is again a bit steep, and those that have been moaning about Fulham being £15 won’t be impressed by these prices either, but the truth is nothings cheap these days.
BY ROAD
The games is still five weeks away and perhaps this post is a bit early but has anyone any thoughts on routes, timings etc.
Does anyone know Braintree? How far is the ground from the station? Any pubs nearby?etc.
Hope this is of some use to the “mad fools” up for away friendlies, I wasn’t going to post for the other away friendlies unless anyone especially wants me too.
