WET YEOVIL, weather could have been worse but we did get wet in the last half hour.
Any feedback or comments, good, bad or ugly would be extremely useful to keep on file, for our next visit. So any comments on:
The road journey
Parking
The train journey
Coach journeys
Cost
Bargains or disasters
Where to Drink or Eat
Where not to Drink or Eat
or anything relative to the trip, let us know about your day

Yeovil as I see it.
I went on SoL coach and frankly if you live locally I don't think you can beat them for value, historically I've always gone by train but even with a season ticket to London, the price is still going to cost you double. Even driving with a full car can't see you doing it much cheaper.
We arrived at the ground at 1.10 which was ideal but in view of the weather took refuge in the marquee behind one of their stands, a bit dubious at first, but once inside excellent. Their own Green & White bitter at £2,60, pasties rolls and all within spitting distance of the ground. Only slight problem was that the toilets were outside. An excellent pub not far away bit know point braving the elements any more than you need to.
Open terraces in wet weather is stupid in this day and age but not to bad to start with but then got heavier for the last half hour.
SoL whizzed us home, pleasure start to finish I can't beleive where the time went.

Only issue we had (12 of us) that went by train was that Yeovil Junction seemed to be in the middle of nowhere (and outside Yeovil) and getting taxi's was near on a nightmare to be honest but we all managed to get the train on time. Bar that there no issues or complaints by travelling by train.

Stayed in B & B at the Green Arches Guest House Saturday and Sunday night, not cheap ( £64 per night) but wonderful accommodation, dynamic breakfast and really friendly. Well worth trying.

The G/F & I stayed at the newly refurbished Citylodge, which had also changed its name from The Alex Lodge.
At £45 for a min suite we couldn't chosen better. No breakfast, but with the Wetherspoon less than 100 metres away & a decent breakfast & coffee for £4.00 its still VFM. Our room was spotless & had a flatscreen TV on the wall. Superb!
If Yeovil had been oop North, we would have called it a depressed Northern town. The pubs are closing down, as well as many of the shops. We counted nine charity shops in 200 metres of their High Street!!
A good weekend away & friendly locals!

One of the charity shops had a few Calloway metal woods for £5 each! Unfortunately for me it wasn't open on the Sunday! :( I did tell one of the old boys I was chatting to on Sunday about the clubs, so hopefully he made a few quid out it!
What was it you bought as my G/F was saying that if she knew what she was looking for, she would have had a very profitable time in these shops!!
