What a shame the ineptitude and greediness of the Shagor put a blot on what should have been a really good evening.

I'd like to apologise to both BC and GNH for the hassle they received in trying to sort everything out. Snowy and I figured that the chances of getting a curry withing the hour were pretty limited, chances were we'd go right to the bottom of the queue and given their previous disorganisation the chances of getting the right stuff seemed slim.

Hope everyone enjoyed the rest of their evening, let's hope the next one goes a bit more smoothly (staying in the pub all night anyone?).

What happened?

We arrived to find they had crammed as many people as possible into the back room, our tables were at the back and seating was very cramped (with one seat missing). Andee had ensured that we would get an á lá carte menu but we were told that we'd have to have the Xmas menu, which contained only 3 rather uninspiring selections (bombay aloo was the only vegetarian option!). Andee and GNH set out to rectify and after having words they said we could have the main menu but we'd have to select three dishes only from it. With 31 people present this was just ridiculous. Further discussions took place and they finally agreed to let us choose what they wanted but warned us that it would be at least an hour before they arrived. Great service.....

Firstly I would like to apologise for leaving on Saturday night.
No one at SZFC was to blame, and I think MrB has summed it up with his comments about the Shagor.
I for one will never set foot in the place again.
Andee, I would like to apologise to you, and let you know that I did appreciate all your efforts regarding the evening.
I felt very sorry for all the guests who must have been unimpressed with what went on (us leaving included).

Hope those who stayed enjoyed themselves.

Oh, Colin thanks for the "Wife"

I would firstly like to thank Graham for all his effort in trying to sort this all out even though he is just an Associate.

Yes it was annoying that they had cocked it up big time however I was not there for the food but to have a good laugh with fellow members of SZFC. I appreciate others may have had other ideas of what they wanted from the evening. I personally do not really like Indian but was prepared to go with the flow as this is what the majority wanted during our recent polls. So next time it will be Thai or French cuisine http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

The highlight of the evening was that we increased the coffers of SZFC by about £150. I would like to also thank everybody who donated gifts to the raffle. I am not sure what Alexis had done to Kev but he managed to get 4 prizes. http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

I would like to thank Bob, GNH for there efforts on Sat night and to the General for doing the Raffle and helping raise money for the club (I think Dan and Alexis whent home with more gifts than the Argos catalouge).
I understand the comments made By Mr B that the Shagor crammed as many people in as they could and the seating was not very comfortable, but it was the same for everybody, it was not ideal that we did not get what we had been promised with regards to the menu, but I personally thought it was very rude of people to leave when they did, yes the idea of waiting 1 hour for your food is not ideal but on the Sat before Xmas it was going to be busy come what may( as it turned out the longest we waited for food was about 40 mins).
It would of been nice if we could have all stayed together as this was the SZFC Xmas night out.
As it turned out we had our food, and the raffle and the evening was not all lost, but having known Bob for a long time I know how upset he was at the way things turned out wich in turn upset his wife Jess. Yes we can all hope the next time things run a bit smoother but I think you may find someone else will have to organize it.

Col/Andee,

Understand your sentiments entirely, I was thinking the following day that we probably should have just stayed but at the time I was so narked with the Shagor's poor service that I'd lost my appetite and didn't want to give them my custom.

I vote for a 5 course meal at the Fleur de Provence next time http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

I suggest we remind the Shagor what good customers we are and suggest that they offer us a free meal (we'll pay for drinks) in January to make up for it.

With the amount of alcohol we normally drink they'll probably still make money on it, and they'll retain our custom.

They certainly did alright out of me - £30 and all I had was a madras, rice and Cobra!

Its our mutual love of Smirnoff and breasts. That must of been it ...

http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

Well the Yoofs (excluding Ben) enjoyed the steak and chicken and we stayed out of all the shananagens ...

The fact the club made £150 was the main factor and im sure we have about £700 in the kitty now. All we need to do now is find a sponsorship deal and a pitch for next season.

Next X-mas, lets all vote for a Chinese and go to the Pearl Dragon and then onto the casino (I'll be 18 by then). Sound good!?
