MILTON KEYNES DONS Away Sunday 28th December 2008

The Sunday after Christmas for those sick of Turkey, hangovers and telly.

Good News and Bad News, the Good news is that Train fares are very reasonable, Bad news is no trains, bus replacements services instead.

TIMES

Regular services. Two choices from London all the way by bus takes two to three hours each way, or train to Luton then bus replacement service taking about 45 minutes from Luton to MK

PRICES

These prices are for Off Peak returns NOT advance tickets so prices shouldn’t increase in theory.

Return from London to MK on bus replacement £14.50 or £9.55 with a railcard
Return from London train Luton/bus replacement to MK £17 doesn’t seem to be reduction for Rail Card.

Return from Southend to MK £33.20 or £22.45 with a railcard
I would think cheaper to buy separate tickets Southend/London London/MK

Not easy being a Rail Traveller in 2008 is it?

There is a train (not replacement bus) for the return journey at 18.05 fom Milton Keynes gets into Euston 18.53 journey taking 48 minutes.

So if you can stomach the replacement bus on the way out, this trip could be OK, as stated before £14.50 return from London or less with a railcard, is a good price.

This is wonder of the Railways last week they showed the 18.05 direct service to London, this week it has disappeared, don't you just love the trains.

But if you do there are no sunday bus services from MK Central except a 5E that they say goes close!

A cab from the station will cost around a tenner, slightly cheaper from Bletchley, also a shorter walk!
