STOCKPORT AWAY SATURDAY 17th January 2009

Real bargain for the early bookers, and somewhere we haven't been to for a while.

Times trains at 9.00, 9.20, 9.40 10.00 etc takes slighty less than two hours and no changes.

Return at 17.23, 17.43, 18.04, 18.23 the later trains may take just over two hours, again no changes and no problem being back in London by 20.00 if you want.

Prices for any of these trains are;

£8.00 advance single from London outward or return journey
TOTAL RETURN FARE £16.00 from London

Just to make the point, adavance fares are set at a first come first served basis, after the £8.00 fare are sold for a particular train then they will go up to £11 then £13 then £44 then £45 then £61.30 then £64 then £115.

Return fares (as opposed to two singles) are at the moment £62.30 or £230 but cheaper return could possibly be brought in.

These are all second class single fares range from £32.50 to £180 (one way) or £360 return.

So you can pay anything from £16 to £360 for the same journey on the same trains this is why I drone on about booking early.

This game does NOT class with FA Cup matches the Third round is on or about the 3rd January 4th Round on or about the 24th January

IDEAL TRIP ONLY DOWN TIME IS THE TIME OF THE YEAR, BAD WEATHER?

DoDtS's fatherly advice: at £16 worth a punt now

£29.50 return on advanced singles for a child ticket, do we have to buy the tickets from southend before the day of travle ?

Dad of Dave the Shrimper

It seems a bit pricey for a child ticket to me, but no you don't have to buy Southend/London tickets in advance.

I think your wise, don't forget Orient is the Tuesday after, Swindon, Col Ewe if you can stand the bus replacement buses are cheap, and Peterborough quite a bargain too by train, as is Brighton although a midweek game.

Unless you can afford all the games you have to be selective.
