I know there's been a few threads here and there about games people have been playing/thinking of getting.

So I thought it would be a good idea to try and keep it all in one place.

I've just downloaded the 'Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X Demo' Only played for about 10 minutes and I'm still in the training programme so the jury is still out on that one.

I'm now downloading a demo for 'WWE Legends of WrestleMania' which looks amazing and will be getting it when the full version comes out on 20th March.

Ozzy, How's Killzone 2 treating you ?

For me it's all about PES09, PS3. Best game I've played, albeit PES6 was the best for it's time.

Good idea mate, for those of us with too much time on our hands :)

Its out of hand fella, loving it. Played it on a HD tv today, I was honestly blown away. Great game, must buy for all PS3 owners.

Yeah I will get it, I've read a few things about it and is supposed to be amazing. I need something a bit different from COD now though. I would never sell it but there times when I really cant be doing with the kids you can tell play it all day.

This dosent involve a game but hopefully there will be someone out there who can help me.

I'm not very good with computers and all that sort of stuff and I don't have a wireless router but I bought the appropriate cable to get online on my PS3. But I have been unsuccessful in getting it online

I live with my grandparents and needless to say they don't really know what they are doing here either.

Any help on this would be much appreciated.

Pro Evo 5 was defo the best...have it on my PSP as well as 6 and 9...5 is played to death!

I think fifa's better than pes. It's more realistic with proper kits and team names and real stadiums. It also has more leagues and you can play as Southend.

PES6 far outdid PES5 on the PS2. PES2009 is a quality game, people seem to fail to realise that because it so massively underperforms.

It should be 10x better, it's not, but it just outdoes PES6 for me and PES6 was a masterpiece of its time.

I think fifa's better than pes. It's more realistic with proper kits and team names and real stadiums. It also has more leagues and you can play as Southend.Realistic has nothing to do with kits, names or stadiums.

I do think it is more realistic, but I prefer PES gameplay, pass it about and proper shots, the shots are fantastic.

Got fifa 2009 on the PSP and the sprites are really really small...found it hard to play and rubbish to look at!!

Apparently EA employs 2 separate games designers to work on the COD titles so that they each have a year and a half to perfect them. The one who is generally regarded as the stronger of the two did COD4, and is also doing this years installment.

So expect big things...

i wasn't really expecting much from cod5 TBH. they shouldn't have reverted to WW2. the modern warfare hook was one of the main reasons it was a success, obviously along with some brilliant graphics and gameplay that is. however, i am expecting big things from CoD6:MW2. can't wait infact.

Been playing the demo for the last few days and although you are only limited to two fighters I am really impressed with it and will be purchasing the full version when released.

Also just downloaded the demo for X-Men Origins (http://www.play.com/Games/PlayStation3/4-/8872351/X-Men-Origins-Wolverine-Uncaged-Edition/Product.html)

I wasn't really sure what to expect from it as I've only seen one of the films.

Gameplay is a bit like that of Devil May Cry.

Got the demo on Xbox Live today of 'Wheelman'. All reviews suggest it is utter ****, but I thought it was absolutely cracking. Barcelona is very well remodelled in game too.

Best game on the PS3 this year, demo on the PSN and full game is £8, sharable between 5 people.

Plus, PES2010 seemingly sees the return of groups, now THAT will be epic :clap:

I started playing GTA IV again the other day. Really enjoying it the second time around.

Sometimes I don't get to play it though as I have to somehow scroll past the Warhawk icon, which I often find too tempting.

Dont agree GBJ. COD5 is miles better for me, but I play on computer rather than a console.

The modern weapons in 4 are ridiculously accurate and too easy to kill people, and I love the second world war arena, so its 5 all day long for me.

Anyone tried the new Ashes 2009 demo yet? Got it off Xbox Live the other day, and it is not that bad actually. Better than Brian Lara graphically too.

IGN is the best place to look pictures all the trailers insides on what modern warfare to is all about. Its going to be the game everyone wants i remember buying GTA 4 that was a big line but this is going to be something different. Its all about the online play. Cant wait but check on IGN best place to find info on the game.

Helicopters in Modern Warfare = Try to find a dark corner to hide in, don't for Christ sake fire you're weapon and attempt to kiss your backside goodbye because pound to a pinch of salt it's gonna get blown off. Dogs in World at War..........now these big nasty fekkers really hack me off. Great when I get them, absolute bloody nightmare when an opposing player does. They don't just run around biting anything that happens to run in their vicinity they actively hunt you down from across the other side of the map. Game voice over screams dogs and the whole bloody team heads for the water tower on Seelow and collectively brick it!

It's the bollocks. Smashes Pro Evo easily. Everything about it is superb IMO. I'm liking the new features aswell, especially "create-a-setpiece". The shooting takes a little getting used to, but apart from that, it's brilliant

Everything about it is superior to Pro Evo this time around...

Player movement, with the 360 motion circle, is the most realistic it's ever been. Shooting is now more realistic and the way size and weight is taken into account when judging jostling, challenges and aerial challenges is superb. The Virtual Pro mode has been added on to with slower, yet more fulfilling, development and the Manager Mode is consideraby better with more realistic negotiations and results.

All in all, a considerable improvement on '09 and much, much better than what PES has to offer judging by the demo Konami released.

really hoping the pes demo isnt the finished article because altho fifa is good, i much prefer the gameplay of pes. it's just faster and tackling on fifa is annoying...may have to try to get used to it though.

The graphics of the rest of our squad are pretty good, they've improved a lot on the lower league players.

Some of the players ratings are a little strange especially at Man City, Stephen Ireland and Micah Richards only 79.

Dunno, I just pop it in and it says "the disc cant be read". Tried so many times yet still comes up, tried cleaning it and stuff. No visible scratches or dents :S

Ahh I used to get that sort of thing on the PS2, was so annoying.

I've had my fair share of problems with Fifa games in the past, It was either 07 or 08 were I had to get 4 different copies before it decided to work everytime.

ok so i'll Get GT5 in March (just around the wedding too, perfect!). I really want a shooting game though, thinking about COD4 or Killzone II. It needs to have good single player because I don't have the internet yet. Is it perhaps worth me getting Killzone II (£15ish) and then getting the new COD in November?

p.s. I love FIFA10 so so much! words cannot begin to describe how brilliant it is. it's the simple things that are done so well, how players size really affects them, how turning your body can draw fouls, how the tricks are really integrated into your dribbles (not just pressing a button). Cranked it up to pro and started a league with Man Utd, 2 wins and 2 draws... hmm!

The PC version is fantastic. I'd imagine it'd be just as good on PS3, plus get all the new download packs.

I'm waiting for delivery of Operation flashpoint on the PC too, hopefully it'll be there after I've finished work.

Trying to find a PS3 on the cheap, figure it really depends on the hard drive on it (well, judging from Play's prices at any rate). Any thoughts on what size I'm gonna need given the lack of online guff?

Also, is a HD tv really necessary? 'Cause chances are it'll be playing through some crummy, donkeys years old 12 inch.

It's not necessary to have an HD TV but it's recommended because that's the only way that you'll make the most of the improved graphics. If you're running a machine like that through an old TV then there's not much point in spending a huge amount of money on a PS3 when graphiclly it won' be a huge step-up from a PS2 or a Wii.

I wouldn't worry too much about the size of the hard-drive either. My PS3 is a 60GB model and I've neve come close to filling it. Most games do not require an install.

well i just completed it and thought it was quite good. the city was great (but didn't have the fun features of San Andreas), unfortunately the missions were repetitive and easy, bar a few quality ones (the bank job and the boat were excellent). I quite liked the storyline, but can see why people overall didn't think it was great... however the best parts for me were the new driving and shooting engines, it felt like you were driving a proper car and the shooting was a lot more simple and a lot more fun. love the taxi system for getting across town.

also great how you kept your guns if you died!

I got MW2 last night at midnight. Very impressive online multiplayer, which is more chaotic than ever. Lot's of campers though :(

Had a brief go at the special ops mode - and it is class also. Most certainly worth the purchase chaps.

there has been a lot written about this, and rightly so IMO. I still don't know how i stand. There is a Jack Bauer style right-wing argument of "for the greater good", and what better way to explore that moral dilemma than through a game. However in a film/book/tv show then the moral dilemma is in a context, and explored in the story... whereas in a video the violence can be removed from the context of any moral issue. I don't want to sound sweeping, but there will be some kids I'm sure who absolutely love the ability to gun down screaming civilians... a bit troubling really. However I wonder if gamers will start to think a bit more about needless violence in games. In GTA for example, if you shoot or run a random person over there is no real sense of terror for that person, but it seems different in this case to be actually required to terrorise as part of a game.

All this waffle and I haven't even played it! It could open up a whole new area of 'moral' excitement in games, rather than sniping craniums off of 'baddies'... however I can see the Daily Mail running with this and there being restrictions on what's allowed in games.

Yeah, I have to say this was the most I've ever been shocked by a game. Even more shocking than the total disregard for draw distance in G-Police 2.

All the reviews say it's 'necessary' to explain the events that come after it, but taken as an outsider and out of context it's every scared parents worst nightmare. It's ****ing grim.

Do you put the injured out of their misery? Is it asking a bigger question about violence? Will people worryingly find it entertaining?

I think it's sorta brave to try something new and ask the viewer whether or not they've ever stopped to think about the senselessness in non-stop carnage? Equally, it's a means to bringing on a whole heap more retribution in the following levels apparently and is just asking for trouble.

So... I dunno? In some ways GTA was worse because they put so much effort into making doing those horrid things to grannies so much fun without any real consequence, but at least this sequence looks like any sane person would find it uncomfortable viewing. Like The Restaurant.

More than anything, it just looks like a **** level to me. If I wanted to play a game where I took part in one huge, unalterable cut scene then I'd buy MGS2 again...

It'll be interesting if it does make people think about the violence in games though. I suspect it won't, when the 4th set of multiplayer maps come out.

I think the developers are bored by it though, as they've already said they're desperate to do something different before starting on a number 3.

There was a great game that explored violence and death in gaming I thought before called 'Shadow of the Colossus'. You had to scale these ancient, peaceful beasts and kill them in order to bring your chick back to life. But the more you killed them, the worse your condition and the world became.

It became genuinely harrowing at times to press on, yet utterly compelling. Predictably no-one bought it. I think it came out about the same time as, funnily enough, Call of Duty 3...

You might not be so keen when you try and activate it through steam. After loads of failed attempts you cant even use the single player unless you go through steam whose servers are too busy to process your request most of the time.

I think the Campaign mode could've been a Hell of a lot better... Very little was made of the Invasion of America which, if real, would be a pivotal moment in history and a Huge military involvement.

Perhaps that's something that is more looked at in the third installment.

I'd just like it to work properly. Not loading the enviroment or people correctly so they are black squares, the screen going black when you get hurt, and many, many of the same save game error.

Removing dedicated servers form the PC version is rubbish. Gone are the days of 50 man TDM games. Also, I can't see how any competitive clan type matches can be played on the new system, and of course there is no opportunity for modders.

Think they have dropped clanger here by more or less deserting the PC gamer.

3rd Gen consoles, with their Online play and downloadable content, killed the PC Games market. It's just not worthwhile financially for Infinity Ward to cater for a dying demographic.

Don't agree mate. There are still million of PC Gamers out there and most are ****ed off with IW. Look for Bad Company 2 to be massive with the PC community.

If PC Gamers buy it, IW will claim it’s a success. If they don’t buy it, IW will claim PC gamers don’t like it so won’t bother to produce any more PC friendly games in the future.

It's the same with Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising. It has quite a hardcore following as the original was the first military simulation game. Codemasters say on the box that dedicated servers are recommended for MP, but didn't set any up, they didn't bother to put an activation code so any pirates can download play MP and cheat, and they've not released the mod files so people can't make their own factions, weapons, vehicles, people and missions, which would keep the game runnning virtually forever.

It's a shame as it's quite a good game, but the PC community aren't going to bother and most are trying to get their money back and wait for Bad Company 2 whilst playing the Project Reality mod for Battlefield 2.

What you on about? I have had no problems with it. Got it for the Xbox 360 though. Online game play is awesome, so many challenges to do. Really pleased I got this and it will keep me entertained for months even years.

Not sure if you played the PC version of the COD series so I will assume you haven’t.

You could be online with a list of maybe 100 multiplayer servers within maybe 20 or 30 seconds.

These were all dedicated servers and ranged from 10 man to 40 or 50 man, some with mods, some with variations on gameplay. Now they have made the PC version similar to the console one. Which basically means, you get dumped into a server, that often takes 2 or 3 minutes to connect to. The maximum TDM is 6 v 6 and on some of the bigger maps you might not see anyone for what seems like ages. At the end of the game the intermission is usually 60 seconds then you start the waiting procedure all over again.

In most dedicated servers for all the other COD series, you could view a list, choose a game and be in within 30 seconds. Ehen it finished the next one would start in maybe 20 seconds or so. Most of the PC gaming community are up in arms about IW’s latest effort – have a look round the net.

MW2 is ****ing awesome. I wasn't too impressed with the story mode TBH, but the online multiplayer is the nuts.

Not too sure about the FIFA problem, but i set up my match commentary in Spanish. was quite funny for a while

I can't wait to play it online, I played it round a mates for a bit and it was pretty awesome.

So I've recently bought a PS3 and games like CoD look awesome. However, I am utter crap at first person shooter games The bundle I got my PS3 with came with Killzone 2 which I have had a bit of a go on but cant get the hang of it!

Can anyone suggest any FPS games for beginners that would help with the basics of playing these games?

Don't bother with any other game, except Modern Warfare 2. It is the nuts. Once you get into it (stop getting dominated, and actually start the dominating) you realise how impressive the game is, and how highly addictive it is. You won't want to play anything else

It's tricky, however I've found the Honey Bear one a bit more tricky as there are more angles.

I spend a lot of my time in the shacks, taking 1/2 shots and making sure there was no way I could be picked off through a window.

I'm dreading the Washington mission as that's a real bitch, and the final speedboat bit is tricky too

I've completed the game on veteran (check my gamertag stats) and the trick with Favela is to take it slow and watch your back, they'll come looking for you. Also, try and pick vantage points that gives you an edge. Take advantage of the guns dropped by your foes or left in empty buildings. Sometimes, depending on which route you take through the maze of buildings, you can pick up a silenced weapon. Believe me this becomes invaluable when you've cleared an area and you get a few moments to pick a route to continue on. If you manage to find a silenced weapon don't be afraid to double back on yourself and try and flank the enemy. This particular chapter of the game is designed to confront you head on with the enemy spawning only when you've reached a certain point. As long as you've taken out all those in your immediate vicinity and got the next lot to spawn it's pretty much safe to reverse your route and use the buildings as cover to flank them. Also, make use of flash and stun grenades. Veteran mode means you'll go down with one shot so disorientating the enemy can give you vital seconds in which to pick your target and get to cover.

Good luck. I died countless times before reaching the top only to find I couldn't actually shoot the guy I'd been chasing for two and a half hours because my squad had alredy got to him :|

Stay left as you come out into open water with the Hind helicopter gunship caning your a$$. Try and keep as close to the cliff edges as possible. It may sound strange but try and keep the boat your trying to catch about 120 meters/yards ahead of you. After many many attempts I found that the closer I got to my goal (the boat your chasing) the more accurate the chopper got. The other parts of this boat section are pretty much a blur as I just gunned it for all it's worth and just hoped for the best.

Washington: Taking the White House.
Stay low and take no notice when shouted at 'Ramirez, move forward, move your ass' or whatever it is that's being yelled at you. Just stay low and use the bomb craters in the ground as cover and head as far left as you can. The game encourages you to go gung ho but you'll come a cropper before you've got five yards.
The alternative to this is just stick to the guy your supposed to follow (forgotten his name) like glue, and I mean like glue, right on his back, he'll take the flak that would put you down. If he goes down wounded go down with him and only get up when he does, he can't die. Use him as a shield. It's a way of doing it, and it works, but it's far less rewarding and I got a distinct feeling of underachievement when I got to the front of The White House and the next phase started.

completed it last night, the speed boat and washington wasn't as hard as i was expecting. the Airplane scrap yard was a bitch though!!

Now going through collecting all the intel (with a bit of help from some online walkthroughs, I'd have never found that one on the snowmobile!!)

I started playing the first part of the Metroid Prime trilogy this weekend just gone on the Wii.

Oh. My. God. How awesome is this???!?!? If every Wii game had such wonderful controls it'd be a sure fire hit with you lot. I know it's just the Gamecube title repackaged to all intents and purposes but as someone who never owned one of those things, this is a revelation.

It combines great ideas, exploration and shooting ****. A winning combo. 40% done already, such was my addiction to it in fact...

In other news I picked up a retro Gamer compendium at the airport yesterday. Great read, especially how Indy & fate of Atlantis, Gunstar Heroes, California Games, Zelda, Elite etc came to be. Well worth a look, even at £9.99 per issue. I read it for 3 hours at the airport mind and I'm still only 1/4 into it.

The misses picked me up a copy of Uncharted 2 for Valentines Day at the weekend. Played nearly an hour into the story and already, it's one of the best games i've ever played. Graphics are insane, and I don't even have a HD TV. Just waiting for my cousin to get back from his holiday so I go get round to his and play it on his 52 inch TV. Gameplay is so addcitive, always been a fan of the wall covering feature just like in Rainbow Six Vegas 2, and it's even better in this game.

A shame you 360 owners can't get hold of it.. If you own a Playstation 3, this game is a must must buy.

It's basically a compendium of previous issues of Retro Gamer. Never really read the mag itself but this 'Best of' annual (number 3) is superb, full of great articles.

don't think i'll bother. just turned the ps3 on, and after spending 20 minutes looking for the CoD disk (which had been swapped for Peppa Pig DVD), then going through screens of updates etc, I got killed 9 times and only shot one person.

****ing crap game anyway.

Not sure if anyone got back to you about this yet;

To find all your stats, on the multiplayer menu, click on 'Barracks'. Then you'll have a page, with 'leaderboards' at the bottom. Click on that and it'll take you through to your stats pages, where you'll be able to see your stats and everyone on your 'friends list' stats

A friends ex-boyfriend is on my PSN list and he's actually a pretty regular guy, not majorly geeky at all or anything like that.

His killstreak is 72, his K/D Ratio is 2.89 and he's in the top 10,000 in the rankings without cheating at all. Seriously good at this game...

Erm, i think it goes you, then Ayrshire then Smiffy i think, but tbh, you've all got pretty much the same rankings. Bit of practice mate and number 1) you'll fly up the table and number 2) you'll get addicted to it and won't put it down.

As i've added ESB now, he goes in at number 5 on the list with Ozzy dropping to 6.

Below. But like i said, you're all around the same rank so it doesn't mean a great deal. They've played a bit more than you aswell, therefore they got slightly better stats, but if you crack on you'll build yours up. Like i've told Smiffy time and time again, the more you play, the more you become addicted and obviously the better you get.

Also, if it makes you feel better, Smiffy and me had a one-on-one and i dominated him. He is poor

I've got bling on my SCAR with scope and heartbeat sensor. it's the absolute bollocks, and vastly improving my k/d. however is it worth starting from scratch with the TAR, which looks a better gun. I'm not sure if it's worth stepping up with no attachments.

Never really got Halo. Played it at home on my Mac but due to it being out of print / older technology I've only got about 6 levels in.

Multiplayer it's ok but I don't really understand the love for it. The aliens were irritating, the sense of dread was non existent and the AI was at times woeful. But it is an old game I guess.

However, Reach looks quite interesting so far. It's the now traditional 'go back to what we do best, only BETTER' route but it's impressive on paper. As is the designers platted beard.

I debated between that and Final Fantasy 13. Went with FF and haven't been let down... From what I've heard the learning curve on Battlefield is incredibly steep.

Has anyone played this, and if so what do you think?

I loved 7 & 8 on the old Playstation and spent hours completing them, and loved the way you could name the characters yourself.

I've had FF13 for a week and I TRY to play it for longer than 30 mins but I get so bored. Yes, it looks incredible but the dialogue and music seem to have come from a bad 1980's film and all you seem to do is press a few buttons again & again & again......... yawnorama.

A shocking waste of £35 and soon to be on Ebay I reckon.
