Firefox 3.5.5

I've just downloaded version 3.5.5 of Firefox, but it doesn't work. The download has set up the icon on my desk top, in the properties the target is "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe", and I can see the .exe file in the right place. However, when I double click Firefox doesn't open.

I've tried uninstalling and re-installing, to no avail. Does anyone have any ideas? Does anyone know how I can revert back to the previous version?

Forget that. I seem to be back in business. It seems that opening in safe mode first has kicked started something, and it now works...

Fiefox has been crap on my mac for the last two versions now, whilst Safari has been flying.

I might switch back soon if the next update doesn't improve...

Firefox seems to be getting slower and slower. I tend to used chrome now for everyday browsing

I tend to alternate between Firefox and Opera for everyday browsing, and I'm leaning heavily towards the latter at present. Firefox has a lot of very useful plugins, but Opera is definitely quicker for me and lighter on system resources to boot, possibly because I burden Firefox with so many extra bits and bobs.
