I have just completed the vote on whether the Trust should provide £10,000 towards the club's pre-season tour of Scotland.
Nice to see the members being consulted.

i think they have got a right cheek to ask for 10k just to go on a pre-season tour, i think the 10 k could and should be spent on new players or paying staff, and dont see how a pre-season tour costs 20 k in the first place, the 10 k should go to the youth team and improving the facilities at the club maybe. whats wrong with our money grabbing directors putting their hand in their pockets ?.

Firstly, the Trust enquired of the members before about "paying staff" in its last survey, and apart from it not being too well supported an idea, there were numerous legal pitfalls. Secondly, the Trust continues its support of the Youth Team and thirdly, by all accounts, several of the Directors have already done just that!
The membership is being given the opportunity to vote, something the Trust has been criticised before for not doing, you have the words of Sturrock and Easton to try and persuade you, and the memories of the disasters of the last two pre-seasons of really quite poor preparation and the ensuing seasons. Vote as you will.

Why should the club go on a jolly that the club cannot afford?
Why should the Trust pay half of the money needed?
Are they gonna pay my expenses too if i cannot afford to go? Bloody right they are not!
Being as the Trust has just spent £12,000.00 of Trust Members money on Physio equipment etc for the club because it can't provide it for itself should the club be told by the Trust how about not waste money on pointless tours?
When we went up in previous years we went on local tours (Bermuda excepted) to places like Wakering, Witham, Chelmsford, Canvey etc.. These are cheap to organise, cheap for fans, they help local clubs too. Why not this year too when we can't afford it?
This makes my blood boil when we can't afford simple physio equipment but are willing to waste it on a pointless (expensive for fans) tour!

I've not made my mind up on which way to vote yet, and must admit that my initial reaction upon reading the email wasn't dissimilar to yours. My bigger concern though is that that money is (I've always assumed) supposed to be ring-fenced as a fighting fund for if the worst were to happen. I'm not sure whether spending it on a couple of weeks away for the first team is the best use for it.
That having been said, I can see the footballing argument for it and I'm sure that we'll take a fair few fans up there. Maybe this is exactly what everyone needs?
As I said, I'm undecided.

How have the fans been ****ed over by the manager wanted to take his side away for 2 games ?
Sturrock clearly thinks this will kick start our pre season route to match fitness! going to Canvey,Wakering,Bowers etc will still happen so what the issue?
Even if the Trust offered to pay for you to go you still properly wouldnt go as the trust offered
Even if we did our normal "tour of Essex" you lot would moan

Even if the Trust offered to pay for you to go you still properly wouldnt go as the trust offered You are probably right, because if i cant afford to go i don't go! A moral the club should learn from!
Even if we did our normal "tour of Essex" you lot would moanWho's "You Lot?" I have been to probably 90% of pre-season friendlies over the last 5 years mate so would never moan at that!

This is inpart why I do not have anything to do with the Trust, whilst I applaud their support of the youth team, I do question why these instances occur........
Perhaps the Trust may get another promise of a refund of monies 'lent' to the club....I certainly would

I've been critical of the trust before but I dont see what they've done wrong here?! They've been approached by the club and theyre consulting with the membership

If it were my money involved with the Trust, it isn't; as such I'm glad to have nothing to do with it!
Non profit organisation, working for the fans with their money - seem's more like the lines are being blurred between what the club should pay or the Trust on the emotive topic of our club players might play better!?!
Have we all gone asleep here!?

Lets not get the wrong end of the stick, I'm not criticising The Trust. I think the idea of asking for members opinion is the correct way of doing it. I'm just pointing out my opposition to the funds being used that way. Hence my NO vote!

Right you are(about the result).Doesn't seem to say anything about turnout though.Although,I assume you're right about 307 members being approximately 30% of the full membership.Guess we'll just have to wait for that full breakdown next week though.Meanwhile, that elusive seat on the board just gets more and more expensive. :winking:
<Trust Members vote to fund SUFC's Tour to Scotland
The results of the Poll sent to members last week regarding the partial funding of the Scottish Tour are now in and approximately 67% of those who responded (307) were in favour.
We have informed the club that we are prepared to pay 50% of the costs to a maximum of 10K as per the vote.
Precise details of the tour are expected to be announced by the club today and details regarding our involvement will follow later.
A detailed breakdown of how the votes were cast will be sent to all members in our next Newsletter due out next week.
We'd like to thank all those that did respond and look forward to maybe seeing some of you in Scotland.<
