Well I have my near impossible fixture, away to a team who gets 236 on Hatstats, in the 3rd round. My usual round for exiting the cup.

So I decided to leave my potential coach to play as he gets more experience but my midfield is made of my reserve team, not show how they will far as they have yet to play a game together since i acquired them. Also does not help that my 2 top defenders are out, red card for one and a 2 week injury for the other. Well i have decided to try to keep the scoreline down by going 4-5-1 pressing. http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/suspect.gif

I've found pressing most helpful recently, and will no doubt be using it in many weeks to come. I've identified the (slightly) weaker teams in my division so I'll be using a combo of PiC and MotS against stronger and weaker teams respectively to try and pick up at least a few points. This week will be a MotS game, fingers crossed. Just picked up two excellent wingers for a total of £85k (which is what I sold a solid defender for), if I can get their form up (currently weak and wretched!!) they should bolster my chances later in the season.

I found 4-5-1 pressing works wonders when all your team have Excellent stamina http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I've gone for th 4-5-1 this week but my players have pretty poor stamina. Is it worth going for pressing or am I not going to get the benefit with such an unfit team? Presumabley I'd be risking injuries too?

For pressing the midfield need atleast passable or you will tire second half and get mullered. I personally prefer having no lower than passable all round my squad to avoid this happening.

We managed to continue our run of never winning a friendly, losing 3-0 at home to Jaypea. What a long season this will be!

GNH turned me over 1-0 in a fairly even contested game.

Lost 2-1 in a friendly. Not unduly fussed. My new solid set-piecer scored our goal, some of the youths aquitted themselves well, some not. Also looking for at least one training pop this week. One of the passable defenders to solid would be nice.

I ground out another 0-0 draw with my pressing 5-4-1. I think I had only one shot all game mentioned in the commentary. Didn't seem to let them have too many chances at the end due to fatigue which was a bonus.. Mind you they were playing their reserves too.

Bloody hell fire!

And there was me looking to make an apology for not having time before rushing to Bristol to sort my team out.

You should try playing them when they have 9 men.

Great idea for the Shrimperzone cup for the non-newbies http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
