View Full Version : Training
No pops for me but another reasonable upturn in form. Should have at least two pops next week though.

Still no defensive pops http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif some of mine have now had six weeks training. Am I being much too premature expecting one of them to pop ?
I'm starting to see a couple of experience pops a week though.

What's your coach level? If you have a solid or passable you should be expecting a pop by 8/9 weeks. If they were all youth pulls then you're quite unlucky if you haven't already had one, the same has happened to me with all the solids I bought, only one of them has gone to excellent and some have played 6 or 7 games.

No pops, a bit of form for my strikers.

Two pops - 19 year old striker to formidable, who has been listed for £650K; 18 year old striker to excellent, who will be kept on.
Have another 18 year old passable striker, who is my plan for long term success... with his titanic set pieces.
Form - the usual ups and downs. *Keeper is on a down-turn, which is annoying; new formidable defender is on an up-turn, which is great.
Oddly, my old-timers are really good at hanging onto form - all the over 30s (well, 3 out of the 4 of them at any rate) are either passable or solid form.

Had a 19 year old striker pop to outstanding.
Is £650,000 a bit optimistic? I know your strikers have some decent passing, but if formidables are going for that much I should be making some decent money when I off-load my trainees!

Hmmmmmmm - didn't have enough money for a passable trainer - that's my next imajor nvestment target when I acquire the necessary funds.
None of my defenders were YPs - in fact not one of my YPs has been retained to date - despite full investment in youth squad.
Arse !
The other fundamental flaw in my plan is that none of my defenders are 17 year olds !!! Doh ! All the smugness at 4 league wins in a row, 2nd place in the league, a "perfect" team and level bank balance has just disappeared in a cloud of stupidity. Guess who'll be trawling the transfer market this weekend ? Some of your defenders could be coming my way if they are young enough.
So in answer to my own question I am far too premature for pops at the moment.

It's not all bad news. Just because they weren't your YP's doesn't mean they weren't someone elses. *If you check their 'Memorable Moments' and see the date they were pulled, if it's within a week of the date you bought them then they were a youth pull. *Generally passables are as there's not a lot of stock in training and selling a player who pops one level from inadequate.
Additionally, the difference in the first pop between a 17yo and 18/19yo is only about a week. *It's only in long term training where the difference really shows. *You'll do just as well to concentrate on getting 18yo's as the initial outlay required for 17yo's is only possible once you've got a sound financial base.
To give you an example, I signed 5 18yo solid defenders, all youth pulls, for a grand total of £260k at the start of the season. *To have signed one 17yo solid would have cost me just as much. *Ultimately their would be a benefit but it would take about 5 seasons to realise it!
The players I have listed are good trainees, they were all youth pulls when I bought them and have received at least one or two weeks training, Bengtsson has had 4 I think. *I reckon you're looking at about £15-20k apiece, though I'm not sure how busy the Sunday afternoon transfer market is.
