But if it's wife / girlfriend as you say in the question, there'd be an ulterior motive from them. If you stayed in, you'd have set a precedent and they'd expect you to do the same forever. So I'd say "If you really loved me, you wouldn't ask me to make such a choice" and head off for the Shrimpers Bar.
