One 18yo to excellent, he's already for sale as we start our slow upgrade to trainees with secondaries. First purchase earlier in the week, 17yo solid winger/passable defender who with his TSI of 1030 I'd expect to pop to solid defending fairly quickly. Will be looking for something similar on Tuesday from a YP. Will then go for a couple with decent passing as we're going to train through passes every fourth week, the amount people pay for players with passing is astonishing.

Will be training it this week as I have a walkover so can field 5-5-0 and train 20 players after the friendly!

A winger popped one level in playmaking, but doesn't make much difference to his overall ability

Form treated me nicely for the most part. Keeper to excellent (3.5* could have done with that last week), defender to excellent, other two to solid. My excellent scoring striker (who scored last week) dropped form to poor which was extremely annoying. If he ever gets to passable form he'll be banging them in left-right-and-centre.

I agree about secondaries massively increasing prices, but have you thought about training your IMs in defending?

It would fit into your current training regime, but more importantly as the current trend is for everyone to go after IMs with passing to boost attack ratings, this time next year should see an increased demand for IMs with defending as people seek to balance their midfields.

I may vary it about a bit, defensive positions certainly gives you some flexibility. Unfortunately my current IM's are only weak defending so it would take an age to get them to passable unless there was a very quick first pop.

Are you allowed to play 5-5-0 in the walkover Mr. B? Won't that make you lose training?

http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif

I'm on stamina training... the chief beneficiary being (hooray!) my magnificent PM midfielder, who popped from weak to inadequate after only one week!

http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Form hasn't been too badly affected... although three bad drops - main midfielder from solid to inadequate form, wing-back from excellent to passable form and goalie from solid (I think) to inadequate form.

http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

The other random beneficiary of my stamina training is my "squad player" midfielder... I signed him last year as a 30 year old with solid PM but only weak stamina - a cack signing you might say, but then I did only spend £6,334 on him. I just needed a body in midfield for my reserve games.

Anyhow, he's also popped to inadequate stamina... and, by the time I've finished with this stamina training regime, might have turned into a half decent player!

http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Finally, I'll have a bloody fit squad by the time this is all done... of the 24 players more than half have passable or better stamina already:

2 - formidable
10 - excellent
1 - solid
2 - passable
8 - inadequate
1 - poor

Just need two of the inadequates, in particular, to get up to solid at least - and then I'll be laughing...

It's a legal 'unlisted' formation. *As are 5-2-3 and 2-5-3, you'll get confusion events due to inexperience but that doesn't really matter for a walkover.

As long as you don't play any more than the designated maximum you're ok, there is no minimum.

Are you at the Spread tonight? Or is that cliquey? *http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Yep, I'll be there - I owe Cockles a pint. Will be there shortly after 7pm.

P.S. Thanks for the gen on 5-5-0 etc.... you learn something new every day!

17 year old popped to excellent a week early.

My best striker still didn't improve his form.

Well, I'm still on the stamina training.

The two midfielders are still benefiting massively - they've both popped up another level again this week to passable! Hooray!

http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

My other good midfielder is paying the price in form, though - now down to weak... Also, randomly, two players' stamina went down this week - huh?! Still, it was from formidable to excellent, so I can live with that.

Those stamina stats are beginning to look very good indeed...

3 - formidable
10 - excellent
4 - solid
5 - passable
1 - inadequate
1 - weak

This could, fingers crossed, all work out rather nicely... once two of those passables have hit excellent - perhaps only 2-3 weeks away if they keep levelling up every week, as they have been doing so thus far - then I can go back to scoring training, since my young striker who has been injured should be back training by then.

Passing training for me, 20 players trained, 4 pops. Not really in the places I'd have wanted (was hoping for an early pop for my 17yo solid passer) but it's a decent ratio.

The match on Sunday will determine our future training regime. If we win I'll be sticking with what I've got. Draw or defeat and it's back to the drawing board, virtually my entire team will be sold off and rebuilt in a new and exciting format (because I'll need something to keep me interested back in Level VI!).

Hong Kong Blue
22-04-2005, 11:33 AM
If I get relegated next season and return to VI (although I plan to stay up!), I think I'll sell off my entire squad and become a stamina farm for a season. Buy up as many playmakers of excellent and above but with stamina of inadequate and below as I can afford (you can train up to 50 at any one time).

It'll kill form and the selling of players will upset team spirit, but that will make playing in DivVI moer challenging and I reckon there is a fair bit of money to be made once you can afford the economies of scale. I'd probably combine it with a bit of passing training as well for those with weak or higher passing, so that I hang onto players for a bit longer to avoid the agents fees and to improve their form before selling.

Had a message saying "team lost this weeks training due to uncomprehensible actions from the manager". WTF!!! http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif

Does anyone know why this was. I played a normal side on Sunday and the same formation in my midweek friendly http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif

By the way Mr Harris is my top goal scorer of legendary status from a couple of seasons ago. He also happens to be bald by some strange coincedence

One young central defender to solid

One young wing back to passable with reasonable secondaries.

Every little helps.

Two pops this week.
One defender up to formidable. The other an 18yo Moldovan defender up to excellent (after only one week of training!). I'm now hoping he gets called up to the U20 Moldovan team.

A few form drops too.

A good day for my Belgian contingent, my 19yo scorer popped to brilliant and one of my IM's scoring popped to weak.

However the form monkey had his wicked way with 7 first team players' form decreasing.

Still on stamina training. The best thing is that the main beneficiary is the intended beneficiary... Grover Wright, my star midfielder. His stamina is now up to solid... pleasingly, his form is still solid, and TSI is now up to 21,030.

As for those overall stamina stats, here goes...

3 - formidable
12 - excellent
6 - solid
2 - passable
1 - inadequate

Only one more week of stamina training needed now, I hope. If Grover pops to excellent, then I'm straight back on to striker training, as my young striker will have recovered from his injury by then. I should also, hopefully, have no one worse than passable stamina, and (fingers crossed) my 32 year-old reserve-team IM should have popped up to solid stamina (to match his solid PM), which should be good enough for my reserves.

http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Still, stamina training does do wonders for your squad TSI... total squad TSI is now up to 86,210!
