Anybody got any clue about this or what newspaper the allegations were reported in?

alledgedly he was hammered when he came into work recently! some of the team were asked to give evidence against him but refused. think there is more to this than we may find out

What is it with Derby County and falling out with their managers? First it was John Gregory, now it's George Burley! There's something seriously awry with that club...

Very strange. Must be something serious if they are trying to get rid of him because of it. He just taken them to the semi-finals of the Championship Play-Offs.

according to yesterdays Mail he has fallen out with a couple of members of the board...they interviewed several senior players about his allegded drink problem and coming in drunk for training....but they stuck by him and said he wasn't turning up drunk.

Oops, forgot I was investigating.

Spoke to a mate who's been a regular seaso in recent seasons and he said much the same that's been down here already. The majority of fans are pretty sure it's been a rumour started maliciously but aren't sure whether it came from one of the board or one of the 4 players released last week.

I don't expect much to come from it this time but if you throw enough mud, some of it sticks and if the allegations were internally generated then that club needs to sort something out before they lose a manager who's turned a relegation haunted team in to one three games off the Premier$hite return they crave.

Well, Burley has gone. The Derby directors deserve all the sh*te their club has suffered, and is about to suffer. They are total and utter fools.

I think Burley is great to be honest. Shame he's left, but rumour had it on TalkSport this morning he might be going to Fulham. He has a place there so might want to move closer to it.

Dont know how much of this is true though, but good luck to the bloke.

Have heard the rumour about drink. Another rumour is that he has got Marcus Tudgay's wife pregnant, although the validity of such claims seems to be untrue.

I know Fulham already have a manager. That was just what was on the radio this morning, that's all. Dont know if it's true though and to be honest, I doubt it.

FWIW, I think he might go for the Hearts job up here.
The Scottish Metro were painting him (& Sir Bobby as D of F) as the masterstroke to scupper the old-firm this morning.

Now, I know Robson's declined the Hearts offer already but I still think he would fancy it as a stepping stone to Ibrox when McLeish gets the shove!

There is also an unproven allegation that he set fire to his own underpants while in the boardromm negotiating a new deal. It went down pretty badly with the powers that be and it was then that they began to suspect Burley may have some kind of a drink problem.
