View Full Version : A run down on Sundays Game

A good turn out on Sunday Guy's and it was good to have El Capitano back.
I thought the attitude was much better this week guys, the first half we could of gone in 2-2 although we played with the wind first half we did try to play some football the attitude was much better the work rate was much better and the way we tried to play as a team was much better it was a bit of a blow to loose Snowy just before half time but I thought Big Al came on and had a great game at center Half.
I knew we would be up against it in the second Half playing into a very strong wind and we stuck to our task as best we could and even managed to get forward and score a good goal from Andee(Chairman Bob) and I am sure he will remember it for a long time, the fact that this team really only had two really good players that made a big difference as to the result of the game and if you take out the one or two goals that they scored from Jack not knowing the rules and the one or two sitters we missed I think a score line of 5-3 or 6-4 would of been OK.
A few thank you's,
Jack for reffing ( Again)
Hils for looking after the injured
Snowy for helping out with subs in the second half
and our band of long suffering supporters.
My Man of the Match has gone to Steve 123456 A superb display of fitness, skill, determination, and team spirit well done Steve, lets hope we can all look to put in the sort of performence.

I spoke to Leeboy yesterday afternoon and he said much the same. Though the scoreline might not suggest it this was a much better team performance.

Alexis, how's your hamstring ? Hopefully people will learn something from it. When you're a kid you can just get kitted up and play. When you're not stretching properly before a game is vitally important. This applies to people coming on as subs, particularly after warming up then standing on the sidelines for an hour or more.

Sutton Sports went down 4-2 yesterday. I was, of course, magnificent. http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Indeed, a much much better performance compared to the shambles at Benfleet last week.

Their Beckham-lookalike Number 2 was the main lynchpin of everything they did, without him they were pretty average. It was just a shame that no-one clattered him early on to give him a reality check.

Still, we can be more upbeat this time as I don't think we disgraced ourselves.

I feel the difference between the two teams was when they attacked in the second half they attacked in numbers. At times we were overrun in the defence. They took full advantage of the wind especially as it was stronger in the 2nd half. We still need to be more vocal me included. Toddy you need to scream out when it is your ball, the area is your domain make it so.

Also in future when we have the wind behind us let take some long shots and see what happens it seemed to pay off for them even if it was not a goal straight away it certainly led to some confusion in the box as they followed up the shots well.

Of course I was more than happy to score today, to be honest I could not believe my luck when the ball was flicked on by Simon and I found myself on the edge of the box with no oppostion near me. I did have to make sure it went over the line before even considering celebrating. Best get down the gym so I will be able to get into those positions more often. Even though we had lost I still felt good amazing what a goal does for you! http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Cheers http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif I had absolutely no energy left yesterday afternoon so had to sit down on the sofa all day http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

There was no way they were 6 goals better than us yesterday. The difference was that they played better as a team than us, but that is because they have played together for longer. And that number 2 was a very good player. The wind picking up for the second half didn't do us any favours either.

But the effort was there yesterday, we all battled for each other and with a bit more luck could easily have got ourselves a high scoring draw out of that.

I thought Kev played well, and made my job easy (if the little ******* could just stop taking the ball off me when i'm in possession http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif , we could get a good partnership going there http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif ), Darren played very well when he came on, and Colin and Carter were solid at the back.

Overall I think we should be happy with that, there was more positives than negatives to be taken from it.

BTW, apologies to anyone who got an earful from me at the end of the game, I was wound up and talking before I could think. Once I had a chance to think about the game, I realised it wasn't as bad as I made out by a long way http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

Sounds a better performance though and well done Andee for scoring. With more practise we can gel and develop as a team.

In previos games i admit i have wasted some opportunities but yesterday, there wasnt much to waste
I cant remember one through ball that i got on the end of, altho i think the wind played a huge part in that.

Comiserations on your result yesterday lads. I don't think you can make a lot of any game played yesterday as the conditions were so bad. It turned our game into a farce, which we ended up losing 2-1, of which we spent the entire second half trying to get the ball out of our half. At one stage a goal kick of ours went out for a corner to the opposition http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif
The main thing these friendlies give you is all important experience and the oportunity to realise and improve your own personal weaknesses. It's amazing how much better you actually play when you are involved in a competetive game. Good luck for the next game

I tried this last night, but the site was being its normal slow self so saved it into Word.

--------------------

You know lads ... i enjoyed that. I'm usually a f**king bad loser but i can see some positive's out of today's game. With a couple of the Usual Suspects joining in the summer i can really see this club moving forward. We dont have the strongest of squads IMO and with a few additions (along with working of specific areas of the teams game) i really think we can continue to move forward. Obviously next week ... we'll be in Cardiff making the most of what is going to be a great weekend, whether we win or lose. But i'd imagine mid-week training should be start soon and then we can work out our problems and start to talk more as a team, improve our finishing as we'll be doing a lot of 5-a-side stuff, close control and passing.

The first goal was kind of unfortunate in that the normal reliable Snowy managaed to miss the ball and with a lack of defensive, they scored their first. The second goal was due to this skillful ******* (who was way too good for everyone), taking it round a few players and scoring a simple goal. I was concerned with some of our defending of corners in the 2nd half as i think they got 2 or 3 goals from it. Andee scored. *http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif *They got another one and i think it ended up 7-1. It was great to see such a big turnout but it would be nice if we had that every week at training. We wont be able to go forward as a team if we aren't showing up week in, week out. We need at least 15 at training as we seem to be getting 18 for matches. Lets make that extra effort for 3 months.

Ratings:

Todd - Cant really blame him for the goals to be honest but still isn't vocal enough IMO and his ground kicking is cr*p. http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif It will be good for him to learn from Dellgaddo (however you spell it) once mid-week training starts and im sure he can pass on alot of advice.

Shags - Those throws. Brilliant. Thats something we need to work on at training and get people like Colin/Snowy up and drop a couple of smaller people back. Was one of the only one's encouraging and talking and helped Simon out a lot. He didnt even seem that knackered (mind you, thats 'cos Simon had to get the ball every time it went off)

Colin - Helped me out alot by telling me where there f**king number 2 was. Argghh. That bloke was too good. Hope i never see him again. Very vocal once again and had a good game after that injury a few months ago.

Snowy - Missed his presence in the 2nd half after an OK game.

Carter - His head dropped quite a bit in the 2nd half but he had an OK game, by his high standards.

Big Al - Not a centre back but did well to contain their strikers.

Simon - Great pace and energy out on the left and himself and the big man linked well on the left. Needed a bit of help now and again which he never got.

Steve - He seemed frustrated with himself (or me http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif) during the game and im not sure why. He played very well, had great fitness levels in the middle of the park and like myself, struggled with their number 2. Hopefully as the more games go by, we can build a better partnership.

Adam - Just wasn't his day and his touch seemed to let him down.

Lee - Great backpass to Todd ... *http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

Darran - Got stuck in and with the wind being an utter c**t, meant he didnt get the ball much. His throw is a great weapon but we need to utilize it much better.

Dave - Didnt really get into the game and i dont think he had a real attempt on goal.

Dan - Same as Dave. They had quite a solid unit and found it difficult to create any opportunities for himself.

Shrek - Could of quite easily added to his goal tally but didnt really get the ball much.

Alexis - Hamstring injury meant he's a lightweight http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

As for myself, i probably had the most chances 3 or 4 but none were really clear cut. My fitness just seems to get better and better and today i think/hope i proved im not a lazy *******!! My first game with Steve in the middle of the park and i throughly enjoyed it even though he had some ******* who was too good for us and was impossible to get the ball of him. I thought i tried to encourage everyone well and tried to keep everyone going in the second half.

Phew. Glad i got that off my chest. Everyone elses thoughts and opinions ...

Kev

Andee - swapped with Shags for the 2nd half but due to the ball constantly being in our own half was constantly under pressure. Fitness was a major factor has he missed some crucial tackles; the fat bastid needs to get fit. However surprising everyone he manages to score a goal whilst suffering from Altitude sickness. http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

Just a quick couple of words, I was cr*p on Sunday, that was probably the worst 40 minutes of football I have played in my life. Think it may have been down to the fitness, as have not been training for 4 weeks. Will try and get out and do some running this week to build up my fitness.
We cannot use the wind as an excuse, it's the same for both teams remember. They basically had two or three very good players who ran the game for them, unfortunately we could not compete and that was that.
Good effort though guys.

Jack, dont take things to heart,, I Have reffed loads of games and made loads of wrong decisions but when you are playing you get so involved with the game and frustration takes over and if you didnt ref we would not have played.

Welldone this week guys a much improved performance, there seemed to be a lot more passion and will in the team compared to the other game. I think that we do now have enough good players but the main problem we face is finding the best position for everyone.

My MOM
1. Uncle- Didnt really put a foot wrong and kept encouraging everyone.
2. Steve- Lots of energy and kept plugging away against a really good midfielder.
3.Shags- on a perosnal note continually helped me and encouraged and his long throw proved to be vital.
Well done guys

(sorry about the sitter) lol

Always quick to blame someone else eh!! http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Next game i am going to video so we can sit and watch ourselves and see where we are going wrong. I am not blaming you but it is strange the defence/midfield are scoring more goals. We need to find what the problem is and get it sorted PDQ. http://www.shrimperzone.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif

I dont quite know if i agree with dan
maybe in this game maybe the service wasnt quite there, but in previous games we have had service.
I think fitness is a big factor.
A lot of teh service we get seems to be balls over the top, or through balls to chase. If we could get a few men forward and get the ball to myself and Dan a bit closer to the goal, it could make things a bit more productive.
