109/5... a mini-collapse after an 18-ball knock from Pietersen, bagging 34 in the process, took us to 100/2...

Hilarious.

Australia were 23-0, then 28-6 and 31-7.

England have now beaten Australia in the last test, ODI and twenty20 game between the two countries.

It was "are you Bangladesh in disguise?" last night given the colonials' laughable efforts.

Changing topic I've never really been into cricket that much until I went to twenty 20 last year. I love it as a format, although I'm sure that a lot of the test purists aren't that keen. It really appeals to me and I suspect a lot of others who find test cricket too slow & drawn out. I like sports that are played at a fast frantic pace and with the inception of Twenty 20 it's the first time that cricket has fallen into that bracket for me. Long may it continue.

I prefer the real stuff (ie tests), but think there is definitely room for a shorter version of the game.

Its major advantage is not that it is more exciting than test cricket, its that its easier to fit into your life. 4 or 5 day cricket is brilliant, but so few people (the retired and students) actually have time to watch it in full, which you need to do in order to appreciate its ebbs and flows. 20:20's brilliance is that it makes the game more accessible, not by changing any of the fundamentals, but by fitting it into a package that is compatible with people's life-styles.

You forgot postie's. I'll be done by 11am most days throughout the summer which leave me some spare time to watch it.

Just booking my tickets for Christmas with the wife's family in Oz. This is my 3rd trip there, the 1st in 2001 was just after the Lions tour and the next one was during our last Ashes tour. As you can imagine I copped a bit of stick from the locals (thankfully the wife's family are Kiwis - so fingers crossed for this Lions tour). So here's to the summer carrying on how it's started so I can return the favour come December!

Woooaaahhh there fella....'enjoy your victory'?

Fair enough you've succumbed to the higher standard of living and better weather that a life in Australia brings (it could well be on the cards for me at some point in the future) but surely you are still supporting England in the cricket?

That does annoy me, met some of the wife's family who came back from Oz for a visit. They emigrated when they were lates 20's and now are in their 40's but the fella would go on about the Australian Cricket and Rugby team as his own. Kept referring to them as 'our'.

Now I have no problems with them supporting Australia in sporting events against other countries but there is no excuse for doing so against the country of your birth and formative lives.

We watched the FA Cup during his visit and all he did was moan about no goals and asked how we could watch such a boring sport, so this proved to me what a prize plank he was.

PS - how often is it that Englishmen who emigrate to Oz start to think they are actually Australian? I thought it was just this bloke but you have started to worry me that there are more.

Next we would have OS claiming he was Maltese.
