Films you've watched recently.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Very different for a SW film I thought, a lot of jokes 90% of which hit, some truly amazing action sequences. It managed to constantly surprise me, just when I thought i had it figured out it would go in another direction. Still processing it all and I need a 2nd viewing but I think I loved it. A tentative 9/10

After a second watch, I’m going with 7.5 /10. A couple of things knocked it back a bit :
  Spoiler:
Leia Poppins, Fin & Rose’s side trip to Monaco. Sometimes the humour hit but also killed the suspense in a scene.

Just got back from my 3rd viewing. It's now a 9.5 :smiles:

  Spoiler:
I was more down on the Finn & Rose subplot before, but it's important for Finn's character arc (gets him to finally buy into the resistance), to introduce the force sensitive kid, and for Poe to earn his lessons - they probably could have got rid of riding the space horses though.

As for Leia, I liked finally getting to see her use the force, and I saw it as a survival instinct kicking in, but hey that's me.

Raiders Of The Lost Ark - currently on. A lot of it looks cheesy with modern eyes, notably the bit in the market in Cairo but still an absolute stonewall classic. 10/10

Re-watched saving private Ryan today. Fantastic film and such a great cast. Always chokes me up too.

Top drawer

The Last Jedi.

  Spoiler:
Too long, some utterly pointless scenes...the whole casino/Benicio Del Toro story arc. The daftness of Leia Poppins in space. Despite the running times, some characters woefully under used - Phasma, Chewie, R2....but I enjoyed it mostly. Would I watch it again? Unlikely. On a par with TFA, but still streets off the original trilogy.

Overall 6/10. A missed opportunity.

I saw The Last Jedi last week. 7/10

Started well, got a bit dull in the middle and Mary Poppins was terrible.

I did enjoy it, not as much as Force Awakens or Rogue One though which I was like a kid in a sweet shop. With the novelty of new Star Wars films wearing off needed a bit more.

The plot itself was pretty weak and the way they underused Leia and Luke Skywalker was criminal. I dont expect them to be the central characters but the way Luke in particular was used in the movie was a massive disappointment.

Breathe - the story of Robin Cavendish, who got that polio that's going around but lived a full(ish) life despite the medical profession of the time. 7/10
