Please vote for who you think is the greatest SUFC Legend. The winner is guaranteed a place in the next round while the runner up may win a place in the next round depending on how many votes they get.

Here is Group A:
Roy Hollis (Rusty Shackleford)
Kevin Maher (manor15)
Trevor Roberts (South Bucks Shrimper)
Sammy McCrory (Blake)

Roy Hollis scored 135 goals for Southend United. To put that into context, that's more than Brett Angell and David Crown combined. Kev is an SUFC legend, no doubt, and I expect him to win this group, but doesn't Southend United's all-time top scorer belong in the next round?

Kevin Maher. 10 years of service. Captain for many of those. Dominated the midfield to back-to-back promotions and a victory over Manchester United. Signed from Tottenham in 1998 after he was released. Released in the summer of 2008 and signed for Oldham and was given a fantastic reception home and away. A true SUFC legend.

I have not had much time to prepare for this, so I am stuck with the little bit of info I can get from t'internet.

Trevor Roberts was goalkeeper who began his career as a youth player at Liverpool. He turned professional in 1965 with Southend United.

Between 1965 and 1970, Trevor made a total of 171 league appearances for Southend. He also played for Cambridge United, where he made 36 league appearances between 1970 and 1972.

Trevor sadly died of a brain tumour in June 1972, at the age of 30.

As much as I love King Kev he's going through anyway, and I do like a bit of history. Hollis definately deserves to be in round 2.

I agree which is why he got my vote.

King Kev by a country mile.

Southend legend. Really hope his testimonial is the first game at the new stadium.

Hollis for me, narrowly ahead of his strike-partner McCrory, but instead Maher will get through easily because people remember him (and forget his early years).
