Quickfire goals from Marcus Milner and Harry Crawford just before half-time helped Southend United’s Under-18s defeat local rivals Colchester United 2-1 at Boots & Laces.

So what happened to the new centre half Ricky Duncan was hoping would play today?

James,

I think the centre-half was a little younger than Under-18s level. I think he was 6'1" at the age of 14, so it may be that he appeared for the Under-16s instead. It's easy to concentrate on the Under-18s, but there is a lot of good work going on further down the age groups as well.

Cheers Rob - I obviously wasn't listening to RD properly - could have sworn he said he was older than that!!
