Arsenal will almost certainly win the FA Cup and, despite how they're falling apart in the League looking at their run in vs Everton's will likely finish top four yet again. And they were challenging for the league for most of the season.

Sounds like Mr Moyes has finally bit the bullet.

Just staggering how many bad appointments are made and it seems obvious to many while tge people doing the hiring think otherwise. AVB springs to mind. Moyes was never going to be a success he doesnt know how to be. 11 years at Everton and one cup final and a failed champions league qualification round....on what basis did the glazers think he could do a top job at the biggest club in the world. Apparently fergie picked him....nice one sir alex not the best thing you've ever done for the club.

As a football fan who has endured one team dominate the last 20 years of English football it's been pretty funny watching Man Utd struggle this year. Of course David Moyes failed. Whoever took over would have failed after 27 years of a club reshaped in one man's image, as the club did after Matt Busby. It took 4 years for Fergie to win a trophy & 7 years to win the league and Moyes was given 10 months.

Man U could end up playing catch up with Chelski/Citeh for years. My heart is breaking.

Terrible appointment in the first place, had not won a thing and never beat a top 4 club at Everton. Couldve easily got Mourinho or Ancelotti if they had tried. The players clearly never respected him from day one.

Don't have any sympathy for him, he knew what he was getting into, he knew what he needed to do and didn't achieve that.

There aren't too many Everton fans upset that he left to go to Munted. This was evident on the weekend when there was hardly any barracking of him.

Ferguson didnt take on the reigning champions though.

To take a team that Ferguson won the league with and turn it into a team outside of the top 6th is appalling.

Aye. Ferguson took a team of drunks and made them into champions. Moyes has achieved the opposite. The right decision, handled with the kind of breath taking ineptitude Manchester United have come to be associated with under Moyes and Woodward.

There wasn't a glimmer of hope to suggest that Moyes had the skills require to turn them around in the next couple of years.

They were the worst champions in the last decade, to be fair. Huge holes on the squad and Ferguson needs to take a big chunk of the blame for it. van Persie's brilliance papered over some huge cracks last year. The loss of the fear factor that was Old Trafford had didn't help either. Teams would turn up last season playing a poor United side but still happy to lose by a goal.

The Glazer's are paying huge amounts every year just in interest payments so this cannot help the club.

Moyes was the cheap option for united and they now have to pay the price.

United should go for Martinez who I think is a superb manager.

The Glazers have taken over £700 million from the club and could have paid the debts off years ago if they wanted to, it is all financial trickery with the debt so don't be fooled by that.
Sacking Moyes now is, IMO, not a good business move unless they have a nailed on winner ready and waiting for next season; the squad he inherited were Champions and AF controlled them well: to expect the same from Moyes is unrealistic and he ought to have had up until Christmas at least.
I am NOT a Manc fan or a Moyes or AF person!

They werent great and certainly didnt leave a great squad, yet still did walk the league.

I wouldnt expect them to have won the league this year, but top 4 should have been a certainty still.

Wasnt about cost, they went with Alex Fergusons recommendation. They wanted a good manager who would be there years rather than someone like Mourinho who would have left after a few years. Backfired somewhat...

United were idiots last year not trying to do everything they could to sabotage Mourinho's return to Chelsea.

I read yesterday a rumour that apparently when Mourinho was told he hadn't got the United job he broke down in tears. Also he was basically begging for the job.

Mourinho was desperate for the United job, but his actions at Madrid - of which you really need to read this account - meant there were severe and warranted reservations about entrusting him with such a role. Moyes was never the right appointment for a club of that stature, but there's nothing to suggest Mourinho was the right one either.
