What would be absolutely gorgeous would be for the original pre-defection locally preferred UKIP candidate Mr Lord to fight back against the centralised party machine and stand as 'the Real UKIP' candidate, and then the previous 'part of the establishment' Conservative candidate Mr Carswell to stand for 'the actual UKIP' and for the don't know who it is yet but there is a big margin to protect so maybe Boris 'who is paying the other half of the cost of the bikes / am I still ****ing away other people's money on my island airport vanity project' Johnson to stand for the Conservatives and maybe the BNP, English Democrates and NF would have a little go to split the right wing further and some housing association or animal rights candidate will be an MP for three weeks or however long Carswell decided he couldn't hang on for. That would be gorgeous.

Jesus, you really are all bitter and twisted about this aren't you?

God I'm praying Labour don't sneak in because of this. Just close your eyes and think of it ...and shudder.
Tbh this is all about UKIP - if anyone else gets in then they are MP for Clacton for a few months and then they go again, no biggie. If UKIP get in then they have broken through and get a big psychological lift. Much less significant for everyone else.

What's gorgeous is the irony of a Socialist calling out a Tory for ****ing away other people's money!

As for UKIP, they'll continue to pick up votes all the while the main parties continue to be just... beige. If in ten years or so they've added a bit of colour back to the proceedings, then they'll have helped drive a potential seismic shift in our country's politics.

This is ****ing everyone's money away on a UKIP PR drive which doesn't sit well with their party of the people claims.

I see where you are coming from but as their policies are divisive and destructive I could do without their splash of colour personally.

So I'm guessing we can't rely on your vote then?

Just have your money ready.

Remember it's now a hedge bet.

With a tenner saying UKIP won't win a seat at a by-election or in the 2015 G/E.

A further score saying that Carswell won't retain his seat for UKIP in the 2015 G/E.

I don't think I'll lose more than a tenner.Good business for SZ, either way.

Why would anybody, in their right mind, want to vote for UKIP?

Because it's why a generation gave their lives to have a free election

UKIP is not my party but I respect they have chance to represent the people who puts an X in their box, if we had a 100% turnout it maybe different but until then we have to accept those that vote have the right to choose

I seem to remember voting in the 1975 referendum on British membership of the EEC (as it was called then). Incidentally I voted against.

You could argue,I suppose, that my father's generation, who fought in WW2 and survived,"gave their lives to have a free election", then.

Not for any generation since. It was supposed to be a binding, one-off referendum,IIRC, (and I do).

UKIP is certainly not my party, either.

To paraphrase Oscar Wilde:-There is nothing more ridiculous than the British right, in one of its periodic fits of morality.
